  • Cameo Prop: In the final scene, where there is a collection of movie cars, the car displayed on the far right is the Rolls-Royce from the original film.
  • Creator Backlash: Russell Brand later remarked that his choice to appear in the movie was "a mistake".
  • Creator Killer: This is the first feature film by director Jason Winer, who's stuck to TV ever since.
  • Money, Dear Boy: The only way Helen Mirren would appear in the remake. Interestingly, this follows on from John Gielgud in the original — it took a lot of money to get him signed on after Dudley Moore suggested him for the role.
  • Reality Subtext: Russell Brand, recovering alcholic and drug addict, plays an alcoholic. He said this was not an issue for him during production. Before scenes he would sniff alcohol to remind him of what it was like to be drunk
  • Star-Derailing Role: This was meant to cement Russell Brand as a movie leading man, but when the film ended up not majorly successful, he was permanently relegated to supporting roles from that point onward.
