Trivia / A Kind of Magic (1986)

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Freddie Mercury and John Deacon both disliked "Gimme the Prize". The movie's director didn't seem to like it either.
  • Creator Breakdown: Brian May wrote "Who Wants to Live Forever" while dealing with the death of his father and the breakdown of his first marriage.
  • Development Gag: "Princes of the Universe" is named after the Working Title for Highlander.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: While the bonus tracks "Friends Will Be Friends Will Be Friends..." and "Forever" popped up again on various reissues (with both appearing on the 2011 remaster's bonus EP), "A Kind of 'A Kind of Magic'" never reappeared since the former's inclusion on the original CD release, which has been out of print since 2011.
  • Throw It In!: While the official lyric transcription for "One Vision" ends with a shouted Title Drop, on the actual recording, Mercury instead shouts "fried chicken." This was tossed in as a joke while the band were struggling to provide a properly bombastic end to the song, and ultimately it was this joke take that was kept.
