Tear Jerker / Masakatsu Funaki

• Funaki losing to Rickson Gracie at Colosseum 2000. To everybody who got the opportunity to watch Masakatsu in his prime, shooting his lethal array of leglocks and holds, fresh and shining like a lone warrior fighting his way through dead fields, it was a heartwrenching sadness to see him turned into a tumefact, empty shell who couldn't even revolve to defend himself after being mounted by his opponent. It was the end of an era, the death of the dream which Funaki had fought for through his life, and a reminder of the often disregarded truth that the heroes we watch do their magic on the ring will eventually decay, worn from the very battles which forge their legends, and will fade to oblivion like tears in rain.
