Tear Jerker / Jake Roberts

• Even after all the crap Jake went through as his life fell apart and even after he put it back together again with DDP's help and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, his Hall of Fame speech was less a self-congratulatory celebration of his success in getting there, and more a long, drawn-out confession of how wrestling had ruined his life even while he still loved it more than anything and always would, even though he can't wrestle any more. It's heartbreakingly personal and self-condemnatory and at one point he almost breaks down crying when he talks about being "tired of lying to your children" and how he wished he was dead, but at least we already knew it had a happy ending and he ended it by having his eighteen month old grandson come up and join him on stage.
  Jake: And it hurts because... I can't play any more...

  Y'see because... when I fell in love with that woman I call "The Ring"... I couldn't cheat on her, man. I'm ashamed to say that's the only woman I never cheated on, but it's the truth. It is, and I'm ashamed of that. Because I was a rotten son-of-a-bitch. <some audience members chuckle> No, it's not funny.
