The youngest scion of the Atwood clan, Juliette struggles to take her place in Legacy vampire society along with her feelings for the young hunter, Calliope.
- Badass Adorable: Juliette is a bubbly, sweet-natured teenage girl who rambles adorably and is also a newly developing but capable vampire.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Subverted. When Cal first meets her, she believes Juliette to be this. By the end of the last episode of season one, after Juliette turns Theo, Cal believes it fully.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Juliette seemingly has a crush on Cal from afar and pines after her for weeks before they even meet. When Ben encourages her to talk to Cal, she insists she has, only for the show to cut to a montage of Juliette trying and failing to do so.
- Meaningful Name: Consider Juliette's forbidden romance with Cal, her name seems fitting.
- Reluctant Monster: Despite coming from a long line of proud Legacy Vampires, Juliette is hesitant to make her first kill and participate in their ways.
- Vegetarian Vampire: Subverted; Juliette delays feeding on anyone for as long as possible, causing her tremendous pain, illness, and night terrors in the first episode, but eventually gives in to her impulses.
Calliope Burns

An inexperienced hunter looking to prove herself, Calliope is torn between fulfilling her destiny and dream of proving her worth to the monster hunter guild and her newfound feelings for Juliette, a vampire.
- Action Girl: Cal was raised to hunt monsters and gets progressively more opportunities to show she knows how to handle herself during the first season.
- Amicable Exes: With Tess. Cal and Tess are best friends and are still on good terms even after their break-up and the Burns' move to Savannah, though Cal admits to Juliette that things have been different ever since.
- Conflicting Loyalty: When it's revealed that Cal was bitten by Juliette and has started wondering if not all monsters are bad, The Guild believes her loyalty is compromised.
- The Stoic: Played with. Cal tries to be this in order to prove herself a capable monster hunter, but the dire situations she finds herself in and her feelings for Juliette cause her emotions to get the best of her at times.

Juliette's older sister who works as an intern at the DA's office.
- Cool Big Sis: Somewhat deconstructed. Juliette initially sees Elinor as this, referring to her as a role model in the first episode and seemingly looking to her for advice and approval. As season 1 goes on, however, they begin to disagree on things more and more. By the finale of this season, in fact, they've disavowed each other altogether.
- Depraved Bisexual: She enjoys seducing humans before draining them to death because she finds it fun. She only targets men in the show, but she keeps a box of the stolen IDs of her victims that shows she's had many female victims as well.
Oliver Fairmont

Juliette's older brother and Elinor's twin who has been estranged and exiled from the family for mysterious reasons.
- The Scapegoat: Oliver is treated this way by his parents and Elinor. Elinor apparently used her ability to manipulate him into killing his pet turtle and more than one person, then "suggest" to their parents that they should exile him, which they do. To this day, Margot and Sebastian firmly believe Oliver is just refusing to accept responsibility for things he did willingly.

- Mama Bear: To all three of her children, including Theo, who is technically her stepson, to the point that when he's turned into a vampire, she absolutely refuses to even consider staking him.

- Papa Bear: Very protective of his children, up to a point.
Theo Burns

Portrayed by: Phillip Mullings Jr
Calliope and Apollo's older half-brother.
- You Are What You Hate: Gets turned into a vampire, though it's possible he meant he wanted to be turned when he asked Juliette for help, and he doesn't seem to want to be staked.
