Recap / Yu Gi Oh Arc V Ep 138 The Shadow Winged Dragon

Go To

Gongenzaka and Jack begin an intense Duel against Zarc. Zarc then summons a deadly menace to the Field: Supreme King Servant Dragon – Clear Wing, a dragon that resembles Yugo's dragon. Defending his very own soul, "Red Dragon", Jack attempts to bring back Yuya's entertainment spirit, which has been locked inside Zarc.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Back from the Dead: Crow somehow returns this episode to the shock of everyone.
  • Bash Brothers: Jack and Gongenzaka work really well this episode, each covering the other's weaknesses. While Gongenzaka lacks the power to damage Zarc, he has plenty of defenses that he uses to protect Jack's ace who does have the power to hurt Zarc.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Zarc Synchro Summons Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing without a Tuner Monster. To be exact, he tributes the required Synchro Material Monsters to achieve this after Jack brings out his Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Subverted for the third time in a row; Crow and Sawatari step in to face Zarc, but are unable to do anything to prevent Jack's loss.
  • Childhood Friends: Gongenzaka's flashback show some of his childhood with Yuya and Yuzu.
  • The Corruption: Unlike its original form, which is a WIND-attribute, Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing is a DARK-attribute.
  • Here We Go Again!: Ray reveals that the Professor is planning to separate the dimensions again using the four nature cards because he messed up trying to revive Ray.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: The battle continues but unlike the other episodes, Gongenzaka and Jack seem to be reaching Yuya, a bit. With Zarc talking about Entertainment Duels again.
  • Invincible Villain: Like Kaito and Kurosaki, Jack and Gongenzaka were unable to scratch Zarc's LP. Due to the combined Pendulum Effects of Supreme King Gates Zero and Infinity, Zarc gains LP instead in the battle between his Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing and Jack's Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend.
  • Large Ham: Zarc. He's shockingly hammy this episode.
  • Meaningful Name: Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing
  • Mythology Gag: This isn't the first time that Jack was thrown off his D-Wheel.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jack has this expression as Zarc's attack approaches the former.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Supreme King Dragon Zarc is this. It's attack blew a hole through the entire Duel Palace.
  • Portal Network: Like Allen and Sayaka, Crow's kids and Chojiro were sucked by a portal to the Fusion Dimension.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: Gongenzaka sacrifices himself to prevent Jack's Scarlight and Tyrant from being destroyed by card effects. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything to help Jack get through to Zarc, much less even prevent the former's loss.
  • Take Up My Sword: Sawatari and Crow continue where Jack and Gongenzaka left off. But this is even more up to eleven due to the fact that Sawatari even takes Gongenzaka's duel disk and wears Yuya's pendulum.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: We see how many levels Sawatari has gained with his worry over Gogenzaka and Crow.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The episode preview unveils Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing.
  • Villains Never Lie: Apparently the Professor. The professor told his students that those carded would be revived after the fusion of the dimensions and which Edo states might be the reason for Crow's return.
  • Wham Line: The line Reira says at the end of the episode
Reira channeling Ray: Father plans of splitting up the dimensions again using the four cards that were revived instead of me
  • Wham Shot: Zarc Synchro Summoning Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing during Jack's turn.
  • Worthy Opponent: Because of Gongenzaka's defense against Supreme King Servant Dragon - Clear Wing's effect, Zarc actually considers Gongenzaka this. Zarc states that Jack was the most interesting of his opponents so far, so Jack is probably this as well.
