As Yami continues to duel Gansley, his "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian" attacks directly. However, Gansley is able to summon "Ruklamba, The Spirit King" from his hand because of it. After drawing, Gansley summons "Yowie," prohibiting Yami from drawing a card next turn. He then plays "Premature Burial," paying 800 life points to summon "Yowie" and activate its effect (to draw another card). With no other choice, Yami is forced to attack with "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian," with Gansley activating his Deck Master Ability again (forcing the guardian to attack Yami instead). While he recovers, he activates "Ruklamba's" second ability: sacrificing him to summon another one from his hand, along with "Wall Of Illusion," both in attack mode. (Any monster who attacks "Wall Of Illusion" will get sent right back to the owner's hand after it's destroyed.)

Meanwhile:

-Kaiba and Mokuba relive their tragic past: after their parents died, the rest of the family took everything from them against their will (unexplained in the dub), leaving them alone at the orphanage. Young Mokuba, sad that they're alone, sat on a swing the whole afternoon, but Young Seto encourages him to get tough, as it's the only way they'll survive. That night, they play a few rounds of chess, with Young Seto winning all of them due to how skilled he is. Shortly after, they see a news report of Gozaboro Kaiba winning his 6th World Chess Championship in a row. The reporter notes how he'll come to the same orphanage to share some of his winnings, giving Seto an idea.

The next day, Gozaboro comes to the orphanage as promised to give gifts to the kids. As he's about to leave, Seto challenges him to a chess game-if Gozaboro loses, he has to adopt Seto and Mokuba. Gozaboro initially refuses as he believes it's a waste of time, but Seto blackmails him into playing by threatening to tell the newspapers that Gozaboro is scared of a kid. They play shortly after, with Seto winning due to studying all of Gozboro's strategies. The real Mokuba, argues with the real Kaiba about how he changed that day. Fortunately, Kaiba comes to his senses and politely tells Mokuba to calm down, as Noah's using these illusions to turn them against each other and lure them into a trap. Sure enough, Mokuba falls into a pit after opening the orphange door, with Kaiba barely being to grab his hand.

-Joey keeps wandering the mansion but can’t find anyone.

-Duke and Tristan manage to escape the hallway, only to realize they're unable to get down from the castle. However, upon seeing Serenity being chased by a "Mad Sword Beast," they jump down to stop it and save her. Tristan is able to steer the monster into the lake, but unfortunately, Duke steals all of the credit.

-Tea remains knocked out following the attack by the "Hitotsu-Me Giants." The giants carry her off through the wasteland until reaching a giant cave. Once inside Téa is laid down onto the ground while her captors watch over her, their eyes glowing a eerie red.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Always Someone Better: Duke ALWAYS wins over Tristan to the race for Serenity.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Gansley And Noah guess this is the case. However, true to the series formula, it's not over yet.
  • Butt-Monkey: Tristan to an extent.
  • Damsel in Distress: Both Serenity and Tea.
    • Serenity gets chased by a Mad-Sword Beast and ends up being saved by Tristan: Duke, however gets all the credit.
    • Tea meanwhile remains unconscious as she is taken prisoner by the Hitotsu-Me Giants.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Subverted twice.
    • After using his Deck Master ability the first time, Gansley was wide open for a direct attack. Unfortunately, he planned this-by losing more than 1000 life points, he's able to summon his "Ruklamba" from his hand.
    • After using his Deck Master ability again, he's only down to one monster, "Ruklamba." Unfortunately, while Yami recovers from the second attack, he uses "Ruklamba's" other effect to summon a second one, along with "Wall Of Illusion."
  • I Shall Taunt You:
Gansley: Don't threaten me, you little whippersnapper! You're weak! I can see it in your eyes!
  • Mr. Fanservice: Serenity finds Duke to be this.
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: During most of her less than a minute of screen-time in this episode, Téa is unconscious as one of the "Hitotsu-Me Giants" carries her over its shoulder to their cave.
  • Rule of Three: Possibly to demonstrate and provide impact, Gansley duels for 3 episodes rather than 2.
