Stuck in the virtual world, Yami duels against Gansley, the leader of the Big Five that Noah sent. After making his deck from scratch, he intends to use Dark Magician as his Deck Master, only for Kuriboh to be chosen automatically. Despite not choosing Kuriboh, he and Yugi ultimately accept it. Meanwhile, Gansley has already taken the form of his deck master, "Deepsea Warrior."

As the duel begins, Gansely starts with "Ashinigray" which Yami propmtly destroy with his "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian." Unfortunately, its flip effect forces Yami has to discard a card, and Gansley quickly replaces it with another one from his deck via its second effect. He then summons "Ipiria" to draw a card, before flipping "Ashinigray" again to force Yami to discard again. As this happens, Gansley continuously boasts about how he's a master of business, and how his skills will causes both Yami and Yugi to be trapped in this world forever. Yami, annoyed, uses his "Polymerization" to fuse "Berfomet" and "Gazelle, The King Of Mythical Beast" into "Chimera, The Flying Mythical Beast." Unfortunately, Gansley's rants were more than just talk, as he shows his true power: by sacrificing 2 monsters, his deck master ability causes "Chimera" to attack Yugi instead.

Meanwhile, the rest of the gang go on seperate adventures:-Joey, stuck in a large mansion, explores it to find a way out.

-Duke and Tristan run down a large hallway to find Serenity, only to realize that it's endless. While Duke wonders why everything feels real in the virtual dimension, Tristan uses a large axe to break both of them out.

-Tea, lost in a barren wasteland, begins to search for help. She's attacked by a group of "Hitotsu-Me Giants," who inflict a cut on her cheek and knock her out (despite the fact that everything's supposed to be virtual).

-Kaiba and Mokuba escape a mysterious forest through a doorway, only to find the orphanage where they used to live.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Anime Hair: Lampshaded: Gansley reflects that when he takes over Yugi's body, he'll need to change his hairstyle.
  • Attack Reflector: Gansley's Deckmaster ability as Deepsea Warrior allows him to inflict this on the opponent.
  • Back from the Dead: "Ashinigray" has the ability to summon another copy of itself when it's destroyed by battle. Unfortuantely for Yami, he has to discard a card every time the monster's flipped, making the ability even more effective.
  • Knockout Ambush: While walking through the wasteland, Tea is attacked by four Hitotsu-Me Giants, one of which cuts her cheek before another knocks her out cold when she attempts to flee.
  • Irony Gansley is the leader of the Big Five, yet he's the very first to be faced rather than the last.
  • Smug Snake: Gansley, just as much as his partners, is always claiming he's going to win.
