Recap / X Men Evolution S 1 E 11 Grim Reminder

Go To

Kitty Pryde is beginning to feel crowded at the Institute, but that becomes the least of her problems when Wolverine begins to go berserk. Taking the X-Jet — and inadvertently Kitty and Kurt — he makes a trip to the Canadian wild to confront his past. But if Wolverine and Kitty don't act fast, it could mean the end of his future with the X-Men.

Tropes included:

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Wolverine loses his mind on and off, because of the mind-control chip.
  • Character Development: For part of the episode Kitty keeps complaining about how crowded she felt living in the institute. By the end of the episode she's learned, not only to appreciate Logan, but everyone else a little bit more.
  • Cooldown Hug: Kitty succeeds in calming down Wolverine with this technique.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Kitty tells Wolverine he can fight it off after the control chip is activated.
  • Inertia Is a Cruel Mistress: This is mentioned when Nightcrawler explains why he can't teleport off an airplane in flight when Kitty and himself are stuck on the X-Jet with Logan, whose Weapon X conditioning has taken over.
Kitty: Can you teleport us to the ground?
Kurt: Uh, yeah, right! Like, picture this: bumpity, bumpity, bumpity, bumpity, SPLAT! Too high up and way too fast!
  • Little "No": Wolverine mutters "no" when he regains his senses temporarily and thinks that he killed Kitty.
  • Little Stowaway: Kurt and Kitty.
  • Mundane Utility: Spyke used his bone spikes to staple posters to the ceiling. Too bad they don't stick, as Kitty found out.
  • Pre Showdown One Liner: Wolverine has this to say to the guy who made him what he is before destroying the compound:
Wolverine: You caged the wrong animal, bub.
