Ricky and Julian get out of jail to find Sunnyvale has been taken over by Cyrus.
- Deliberately Monochrome: The show opens with black-and-white archive footage from the 1999 film and continues directly after in color.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Cyrus treats Ricky like he's done this when they first meet, but in reality Cyrus is a Small Name, Big Ego.
- The Dreaded: Cyrus has this reputation with the park residents to the point where Lahey is even too scared to deal with him. Julian and Ricky are also understandably wary.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: The humor in this first episode is much more subtle and slow-paced than in later seasons with a good deal of serious drama to ground things. Bubbles is a Creepy Monotone Motor Mouth with a much stronger speech impediment, rather than speaking with more nuance and inflection later.
- Parental Sexuality Squick: Ricky knows not to stay at his dad's place while he's drunk and playing loud music because there could be women present. Given what we learn about Ray's penchant for hiring prostitutes later on, Ricky's concerns aren't unjustified.
- Reckless Gun Usage: Cyrus carries a 9mm at all times with as he puts it, the safety "always off".
- 0% Approval Rating: NOBODY likes Cyrus as self-appointed king of the park.
