Includes Examples Of

  • Bittersweet Ending: The trip is a disaster, the tent has gone up in flames, after Jack tried to intervene when Kevin and Wayne got into a scuffle. And Jack finally comes to terms with the fact that his dream of moving up here for good will never be a reality. But, in spite of the difficulties, the three decide to tough out the remainder of the trip, which goes by relatively uneventful. And later on, they realize why they made the trip in the first place, to say goodbye to a piece of their childhood.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Kevin grows sick of Wayne's teasing, and attempts to get back at him, by luring him to a sinkhole. However Jack takes the bait meant for Wayne, and falls underwater himself. Afterwards, while he's in fresh undergarments, drying out his soaked clothes, Jack tells Kevin off for this, claiming it wasn't funny and someone could've been hurt. Kevin tries to apologize, but he (and Wayne) still can't keep a straight face about the whole thing.
  • Fishing Episode: Duh!
  • Fishing for Sole: It's the same lead on, when Kevin gets a nibble, and a brief struggle... for a flat tire, much to the amusement of both Wayne and Jack.

  • Playing with Fire: A scuffle ends with the family tent going up in flames.
  • We Don't Need Roads: The Arnolds learn from a local bait shop that their fishing spot is no longer accesible by road. That doesn't stop them.
