Recap / The Secret Show S 1 E 4 Wedgie Attack

Go To

Victor and Anita are accused of giving the World Leader’s husband a big wedgie on live TV... then all of U.Z.Z is systematically accused of doing the same thing every time the husband makes an address to the world. Soon, all of U.Z.Z. is hiding at Victor's mum's house in disguise. Could it be an Impostor plot? Is Changed Daily safe..?

Changed Daily's Name: Cheeky Chops.

Secret Tropes uncovered:

  • Alliterative Name: Changed Daily's name for the episode: "Cheeky Chops".
  • Call-Back: The use of the chairs in the lounge as escape vehicles comes in handy when the rest of U.Z.Z hunt down Victor, Anita, and then Professor Professor. They were first used as such in "The Secret Thing".
  • Chekhov's Gun: The power switch that was attempted to trap Anita and Victor is used on the Impostors to trap them and shoot them into space.
  • Criminal Doppelgänger: The Impostors are disguising themselves as key U.Z.Z agents to ruin their reputation and cause the fall of their organization by giving the World Leader's husband wedgies.
  • I Never Told You My Name: While in disguise, Victor bumps into Ray and accidentally calls him by name. Ray then gets suspicious, so Victor claims he knew Ray's name because it's written on his suit. And it is... on the back of his collar. Ray still buys it.
  • Once an Episode:
    • The Fluffy Bunny Show: Sweet Little Granny is evicted from her time-slot by agents stopping the VT projector and calling to start the show.
    • Changed Daily's name is "Cheeky Chops" for this episode.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The U.Z.Z disguise kit is literally just a pair of google-eye glasses, a mustache, and a long nose, and it fools Ray as well as the other agents. The rest of U.Z.Z use the same kit later on when visiting Victor and his mom.
  • Poke the Poodle: Weaponized and ultimately inverted. While giving someone a wedgie obviously isn't a good idea, it's rare to see it used as a means to destroy a secret spy organization.
  • Running Gag:
    • This episode marks the first appearance of the "Code Custard!" warning. Used once when in pursuit of Victor and Anita, and then again with Professor Professor, despite the latter being right in front of Cheeky Chops while the broadcast is happening live.
    • People (including Professor Professor) forgetting the chairs can turn into makeshift sky-bikes.
    • Everyone being offered cake with weird ingredients by Victor's mom. Cheeky Chops tries a piece at the end and chokes like the rest of the cast do.
    • World Leader's husband having to translate World Leader's speeches, as she is The Unintelligible.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Cheeky Chops calling a Code Custard on Professor Professor, despite the latter being right in front of him while the live broadcast is playing.
  • The Unintelligible:
    • The World Leader has to rely on her husband to interpret her speeches.
    • When the Impostors raid the U.Z.Z Headquarters, Cheeky Chops can't understand them as they are speaking in a Starfish Language.
