A murder has happened at a law office and Nolan is sent to stand guard. He meets Ellroy Basso, a professional crime scene cleaner who has the same sort of skills as a forensics investigator. The two of them hit it off and soon find themselves investigating the scene themselves, eventually ending up in a gunfight as they discover Cartel assassins out to retrieve what they assume is hidden money.
West is meanwhile exposed to a substance he believes to be PCP and brought to a hospital for testing, rapidly degenerating into strange ideas and gibberish. Bradford gets into a car accident and is soon about to lose his job before Chen discovers that the individuals he hit were scammers who arranged vehicle accidents. Worse, one of them has taken to professional murder. West, thankfully, discovers that he merely was exposed to caffeine.
Both West and Bradford receive an award for their meritorious service.

- Bullying a Dragon: The con men routinely arrange accidents to claim money from victims but end up getting rear-ended by a police cruiser.
- Casting Gag: Alan Tudyk plays Ellroy Basso, serving as a Firefly reunion.
- Con Man: Chen and Bradford deal with a pair of these but one of them has graduated to being a Professional Killer.
- Deus ex Machina: Bradford almost loses his job for being in an accident but, thankfully, the people he hit turned out to be criminals themselves.
- G-Rated Drug: West misinterprets caffeine and an allergic reaction as being on PCP.
- Shout-Out: West's high ramblings include his belief in developing Pre-Crime from Minority Report.
