Go To

Penny reluctantly attends a rehearsal for the Debutante ball and meets a seemingly too good to be true gentleman.

Tropes:

  • Ambiguously Human: Whatever Johnny Lovely is, he takes the form of a teenage boy who mysterious vanishes and leaves books on what it means to be kind to people. The implication is that he’s some sort of guardian angel.
  • Animated Outtakes: The Stinger for the episode.
  • Company Cross References: Among the female role-models Penny was pointing to Johnny, one of them is Kim Possible.
  • Follow the Bouncing Ball: Papi sings the Legend of Johnny Lovely with his face as the bouncing ball. His lyrics are in Spanish while the English translation is displayed on screen.
  • Greek Chorus: Papi acts like this with a guitar serenading the Legend of Johnny Lovely.
  • Line-of-Sight Name: Whoever Johnny Lovely is, they picked up their name from the streets Johnny Avenue and Lovely Lane.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Johnny Lovely is either a mysterious stranger with a knack of teaching kindness or just the personification of love that coincidentally took the name of a street address, leading everyone to question if he's a real person or not.
LaCienga Johnny Avenue and Lovely Lane? So you mean, he didn't exist?
Zoey: I don't know. Do I exist? Do you exist?
  • Nice Guy: Johnny Lovely.
  • Rule of Three: It takes Penny three times with the rude neighbor to get answers on Johnny's existence, the last one having her show the words from Johnny's book.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: Penny figures Johnny Lovely is too good to be true, that nobody could possibly look good and be good on the inside too. But as it turns out, he's a genuinely nice person with the face to match.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Johnny Lovely's book has the ability to almost instantly bring out kindness and politeness in anybody who reads it.
