After hearing of a mysterious creature attacking and sinking several ships, Flash and his team head to the beach to investigate. But they are confronted by an old foe who is after the same creature, and won't be denied his prey.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: Flash gains Pearl's trust after he saves her from Dynamo Danger, with her saving him from drowning in return and going back to the Plumber base with him and his friends.
- The Bus Came Back: Dynamo Danger returns after his previous appearance in "The Hunt is On".
- Call-Back: The alien squids from "They Came From the Deep" are referred to a few times from the last time the beach was visited, with Flash and the others visiting the same area with the caves where their base previously was.
- Distracted by the Sexy: When Adagio wears a flattering two-piece swimsuit in preparation for diving, Flash can't help but gawk at her. Even more when she dives into the water followed by surfacing and pushing her wet locks out of her face.
- It Can Think: Fluttershy reminds everyone that this hybrid is just like Drift, smart but young. Pearl later proves this correct when she shows she is smart enough to talk.
- Loophole Abuse: Dynamo's lawyer was able to get him off from the events of "The Hunt Is On" due to the fact that since he had been under the control of Vilgax's drone, they couldn't know for sure if he was acting of his own volition.
- Mistaken Identity: Dynamo attacks Flash in the water while he is transformed as Squidstrictor, mistaking him for the creature he was looking for. Flash, Adagio, and Shining all call him out on his stupidity and butting into Plumber business.
- Mythology Gag:
- Flash growls at the Omnitrix "You turn me into Vapaw, you're dead meat." before turning into his aquatic alien Squidstrictor. This is similar to what Ben said in "They Lurk Below" when warning it not to turn him into Wildmutt before becoming Ripjaws.
- Pearl becomes hostile after the Omnitrix scans her, similar to how P'andor mistook the Omnitrix scanning him as a weapon of some kind.
- Non-Malicious Monster: Pearl means no trouble while causing boats to sink. She was just looking for fish to eat in their holds.
- Rhetorical Question Blunder: After Dynamo accidentally reels in Squidstrictor, he claims that his scanner picked up a strange lifeform and figured it was his target, asking what else he was supposed to think. Adagio sarcastically points out that since he knew a guy who could change into alien forms was in the area, he should've checked before acting.
- Third-Act Misunderstanding: Flash and his friends initially appear to earn Pearl's trust when they find her in her makeshift home by convincing her they mean no harm. But when Flash gets too close to her, the Omnitrix scans her to obtain her uncatalogued DNA, causing her to lash out at Flash, thinking he tricked her.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Pearl has the ability to switch between a hippogriff and seapony form just like the ones in Equestria. Except unlike them, Pearl doesn't need a piece of the Pearl of Transformation to do so and can switch between them naturally thanks to her piscciss volann DNA. Flash shows the same ability as Skydiver.
