This episode has examples of

  • Aside Glance: Bunsen tells Beaker how cute he looks in his tourist outfit. Beaker shoots the camera an "OMG" look.
  • Gypsy Curse: A curse is put on the show that causes just about everything to go wrong, with the final stage making everyone (except for the Newsman) speak Mock-Swedish. At the end, it's revealed that Statler and Waldorf paid the gypsy to curse the show, not realising that it would affect them too.
  • Here We Go Again!: Just when it seems like the curse has worn off, Jonathan pays the gypsy to extend it.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Statler and Waldorf end up being afflicted by the curse they paid the gypsy to put on the show.
  • Planimal: It doesn't show up onscreen, but one of the acts booked for the episode's show is Bernice and her half-horse half-watermelon act. It has to be cancelled after the horse half comes down with hoof-and-mouth disease.
  • The Show Must Go Wrong: When you've got a Gypsy Curse on the theater, it'd be stranger if anything went right.
  • Squashed Flat: Poor Beaker ends up this way after the curse pulls him into Bunsen's luggage compressor. Bunsen promises to mail his assistant to the hospital.
  • This Just In!: While the Newsman doesn't do his Muppet News Flash sketch, he does pop in to the final act to say how he's been unaffected. The Gypsy says that that's because her curse doesn't work on one type of person (which the Newsman is): The boring and stupid type.

[Statler, Waldorf and the Swedish Chef are conversing in Mock Swedish.]
