This episode has examples of

  • Aborted Arc: The whole "Piggy is jealous of Miss Mousey" thing pretty much doesn't go beyond this episode, and Miss Mousey herself disappears from the show anyway.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Statler and Waldorf thought the Fractured Fairy Tale rendition of “The Grasshopper and the Ant” was hysterical. Too bad Sam didn’t agree with them.
  • Anvil on Head: The Newsman reports on a weight being dropped from the ceiling. Guess where it lands.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Miss Piggy is furious that Kermit has a duet with Miss Mousey.
  • Fractured Fairy Tale: Sam is shocked when the version of the "Ant and the Grasshopper" he reads ends with the ant getting stepped on and the grasshopper driving off to Florida.
  • Invisible Parents: When Robin protests against doing "I'm Five", Kermit threatens to call his father. That shuts Robin up real fast.
  • Oh, Crap!: Beaker has this reaction when Bunsen announces that he is to drink the Bunsonium.
  • The Runaway: Robin plans to run away because no one pays any attention to him. Bernadette talks him out of it.
  • Running Gag: Statler and Waldorf's booth is visited a few times by members of the cast who weren't pleased with some of their comments. Lampshaded by Waldorf:
Waldorf: Why are they picking on us tonight?
  • Vaudeville Hook: Robin gets pulled offstage when he tries to sing "They Call The Wind Maria".
  • Visual Pun: The liquid Bunsonium happens to be contained in a beaker, resulting in this line:
    Bunsen: Get the beaker, Beaker.

Statler: Seriously, what'd you think of Miss Mousey?
Waldorf: I loved her.
Statler: Me too.
Miss Piggy: WHAT?!
Statler and Waldorf: [terrified] No, we didn't!
Miss Piggy: [sweetly] Thank you!

The Ant and the Grasshopper

Sam the Eagle reads to the audience the fable of 'The Ant and the Grasshopper'. Much to his horror, the ending has been changed.
