Go To

Destroy All Monsters is the Tenth episode of Netflix's 2022 series The Imperfects.

This episode provides examples of:

  • An Arm and a Leg: A random Flux agent loses one of his arms to Juan's chupacabra form, before being brutally ripped apart by him (albeit off screen).
  • Fate Worse than Death: This episode shows that Juan sees the possibility of permanently turning into a chupacabra as this.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Sarkov succeeded in his plans to create a race of "super-humans", however he also caused a virus outbreak that started turning people into monsters.
  • Heroic BSoD: Juan has one when Sarkov tells him Tilda is dead, which makes him completely lose control of his powers.
  • Little "No": Juan gives a few of these when Sarkov tricks him into thinking Tilda's dead, which quickly turn into a few Big Nos.
  • Monster Clown: One of the Flux agents disguises himself as a clown at Paloma's birthday party.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Abbi and Juan taking the cure causes them to slowly develop worse versions of their original side effects.
    • Part way through the episode, Juan decides to leave his nieces birthday party, which ruins any chance of him reconciling with his brother.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: The stem cells Sarkov intended to use to keep Juan in his chupacabra form turn out to be just what the heroes needed to cure themselves of their side effects. Later subverted at the end when both Abbi and Juan start getting worse versions of their original side effects, turning it into a case of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero for the protagonists.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Tilda, when she hears the news report of a virus outbreak turning people into Monsters.
    • Juan is practically having a panic attack when he sees that he's slowly turning back into a chupacabra, realising that the cure didn't work.
    • Abbi also has this reaction when she notices that she's secreting some kind of substance.
    • Sarkov has a brief moment of this at the end when he realises he's actually been talking to Isabel Finch.
  • Split-Personality Takeover: The ending of this episode shows that Finch has fully taken over Burke's bodt.
  • Tempting Fate: Towards the end of the episode, Juan tells Paloma that he doesn't have to miss "Chupi"... right as he's slowly turning back into his chupacabra form (which Paloma finds oddly amusing, for some reason, while Juan has a complete panic attack).
  • Wham Line: Burke Provides one at the end, which reveals that Finch has completely taken over her.
"I fucking hate you for what you did, but a deal's a deal"
