A Plot: Erica goes on a date with a guy from the coffee shop, while Geoff ends up on an episode of "The Dating Game".
B Plot: Beverly is thrilled to learn that Murray has spontaneously purchased a shore house.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Beverly is absolutely thrilled to have her own beach house, like her rival Jane Bales has recently acquired...until she sees that the house is a real "fixer-upper" that formerly housed abandoned children.
- Fun with Acronyms: Barry's strategy to prepare Geoff for the show is one of these. The "A" is for establishing Alpha Status, the "US" is for support from the JTP...and the "N" between them doesn't stand for anything, as Barry just wanted to write a dirty word.
- Game Show Appearance: Barry puts Geoff as a bachelor on The Dating Game so he can get over Erica. The episode begins with Ms. Cinoman as a bachelorette (as the real Cinoman had been).
- Heh Heh, You Said "X": Barry deliberately chose to use ANUS as an acronym for his strategy for Geoff's stint in The Dating Game, to the point of adding an unnecessary letter.
- Horrible Housing: The shore house Murray buys is this, though he genuinely sees potential in it. By the end, he (and Adam, who surprisingly had a good beach day involving a dolphin) convinces Beverly of the potential as well.
- Operation: Jealousy: Erica asking Heath from the coffee shop on a date quickly devolves into this, as she makes him spend the first part of it watching Geoff win the date, and the second taking her to the same restaurant Geoff and the girl have won a reservation at. Geoff is a tad perturbed at this, mainly because their "break" was her idea.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: When Bev asks Adam how he broke his surf board, he tells a harrowing story about how he got caught in an undertow and stranded out at sea, where he saw a shark fin. Then he makes it safely back to shore and the fin turned out to belong to a dolphin. As for the board, he broke it trying to go through the revolving door at the hotel.
- Shark Fin of Doom: Adam thinks he saw one when he was in the water, and thought he was going to be eaten by "Jaws himself!" Fortunately, it turned out to be a friendly dolphin.
