Sir Crispin Crandall (No. 86) provides examples of:
- Apologetic Attacker: Tom apologizes to Asher as he kills him with his own knife in self defence.
- Borrowed Biometric Bypass: To bypass the Director’s safe box Red needs to steal the thumbs of Andras Halmi from his frozen body.
- Brain Drain: An unconventional example as the ones being drained aren’t being recruited, but are being kidnapped and forcefully cryogenically frozen so that Crandall can wake them up in a post-apocalyptic future.
- Human Popsicle: Sir Crispin Crandall cryogenically freezes renowned experts in various fields in order to preserve them for the future. Of course, he also does this without their consent and without any evidence that his project is going to succeed which means he basically just murdered and froze a bunch of people.
- Humans Are Morons: Sir Crispin Crandall refers to humanity as being “greedy primates” due to its role in
- Involuntary Battle to the Death: Tom and Asher are forced into a fight to the death. Asher gives in and tries to kill Tom to survive so a reluctant Tom ends up killing him.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Red delivers one to Crandall detailing how he’s a short-sighted fool who’s not only potentially screwing over humanity but potentially himself as he may have even frozen people useful to the discovery of restoring the cryogenically frozen.Red: The only thing that is real is the present and you have plundered it. Robbed it of the very geniuses that might have averted the dystopia you so fear. Indeed, maybe even the very one who might have devised a means to revive your sad, tired frozen ass. Congratulations, Crispin. You’ve doubled down on extinction.
