Treat or treat!
Paddington spends his first Halloween with the Browns as they teach him all about the holiday’s many traditions.Tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: At first, Mr. Curry makes it seem like he hates Halloween; however, this ends up all being part of Henry’s plan to scare Mrs. Bird. He actually thinks Halloween is the best day of the year because he gets to dress up in a scary costume and yell at kids without anyone telling him not to.
- Cosmetic Horror: Mrs. Potts opens the door wearing a green face mask and cucumbers on her eyes, scaring Paddington and the Browns while they’re “treat”-or-treating.
- Failed Attempt at Scaring: Henry keeps trying to scare Mrs. Bird with his vampire costume, to no avail.Mrs. Bird: I am like a bird with no wings - unflappable!
- The Grinch: Of the Halloween variation. Mr. Curry hates the holiday and wants nothing to do with it.
- Halloween Episode: It’s Paddington’s first Halloween in Windsor Gardens.
- Impending Doom P.O.V.: We see from Mr. Brown’s point of view as he’s sneaking up on Mrs. Bird to try to scare her.
- It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: Mr. Brown and Mr. Curry say, “Best Halloween ever!” in unison when they finally scare Mrs. Bird.
- Jump Scare: Mr. Gruber is hiding in a giant jack-o-lantern and jumps out when the kids come to his door to trick-or-treat.
- Not So Above It All: Mr. Curry, once again, shows that despite all his crankiness, he’s a pretty fun guy when he goes along with Mr. Brown’s plan to scare Mrs. Bird.
