Go To

The tenth episode of the second season of the US version of Supernanny.

Jo visits Minnetonka, Minnesota, where she meets Bob and Elizabeth Tsironis. Bob and Elizabeth have three children, four-year-old Kate and three-year-old twins Teddy and Nicholas. The twins were born prematurely and beat the odds to become healthy and strong toddlers. Unfortunately, Bob and Elizabeth are so grateful that their miracle twins survived that they tend to spoil them and find it hard to discipline them for their bad behavior. Nicholas even has a broken leg as a result of Teddy pushing him out of their crib. Meanwhile, Kate is overshadowed by her younger brothers' pandemonium that she fakes foot cramps to get her parents' attention. Can Jo help Bob and Elizabeth discipline the twins and give Kate the attention she wants?

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bumbling Dad: Bob. Early in the episode, Kate tells Jo that Bob would rather watch TV than play with her. Even after Elizabeth starts disciplining Teddy and Nicholas for their bad behavior, Bob struggles, finding it easier not to discipline them because it would have made them scream and cry.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Kate is the responsible sibling to Teddy and Nicholas' foolish siblings. Kate is smart and mature despite only being four, as she does chores and obeys her parents' rules to stay out of trouble. Due in part to their lack of discipline, Teddy and Nicholas hit and bite their parents and older sister, throw their toys, and throw their food on the floor at dinner time.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Elizabeth reveals to Jo that the reason why she and Bob find it hard to discipline Teddy and Nicholas for their bad behavior is because they were born prematurely. While Jo sympathizes with the parents in this situation, she points out in the parents' meeting that they're living in the past and since the boys are healthy now, they need to be disciplined for their bad behavior.
  • Injured Limb Episode: Nicholas spends the episode with his right leg in a cast due to his twin brother Teddy pushing him out of their crib.
  • Kiddie Kid: Inverted with Kate. She is only four, but is very smart and mature for her age, as she does chores and obeys her parents' rules to stay out of trouble. After a conversation that she and Jo have, Jo tells the viewers that she felt like she was talking to a teen.
  • Obfuscating Disability: Due to how much attention that Bob and Elizabeth give to Teddy and Nicholas, Kate resorts to faking foot cramps just to get her parents' attention. Jo explains to her that faking foot cramps is not the right way to get her parents' attention.
  • Premature Birth Drama: Bob and Elizabeth reveal in the submission reel that Teddy and Nicholas were born at 23 weeks gestation, and the doctors didn't think the twins had a good chance of survival. It's because Bob and Elizabeth are happy that Teddy and Nicholas are healthy now that they find it hard to discipline them for their bad behavior.
  • Pushover Parents: Bob and Elizabeth find it hard to discipline Teddy and Nicholas for their bad behavior because they were born prematurely. Jo has to help Bob and Elizabeth discipline the twins by reminding them that the boys are healthy now. Elizabeth catches on quickly, but Bob finds it more difficult because he doesn't want them to scream and cry.
  • The Unfavorite: A mild case; Bob and Elizabeth are so happy that preemie twins Nicholas and Teddy are now healthy that they do not discipline them. They also ignore their older daughter Kate, to the point that she fakes foot cramps to get attention.
