Jailbot's detainment of Jacknife goes awry when he accidentally brings a deadly, silent serial killer to the jail instead. The Warden forces Jared to go undercover to learn about the new inmate, but after the inmate dies in an accident, Jared finds himself suddenly being hailed as a "king" among the inmate population.

Meanwhile, the Twins become bored and decide to hack Jailbot, turning him against the Warden and everyone else.

"Cold-Blooded" contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod: The Twins' computer screen contains a few references to past episodes (see Freeze Frame Bonus), spanning from the pilot to the seventh episode.
    • One of the bored inmates from "Combaticus" (the one with the gray mullet and mustache) is among the first few inmates to be startled by the new killer inmate's arrival. His bald partner seems to be among the inmates in the cafeteria line that wind up slaughtered.
  • Convenient Color Change: Jailbot's dot-matrix face turns red and much angrier-looking after he's been hacked to do the Twins' bidding.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Type 2: The Galactoids make a sneak-peek type of cameo in the opening credits, and appear in the following episode. However, as this episode was actually the final one to be written and completed, this would be their second appearance in the production order.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Jared winds up with his hair bleached blond while in his inmate disguise, as well as it being styled into a mullet. Strangely enough, he winds up losing his moustache.
  • "Everybody Dies" Ending: All of the main cast except the Twins freeze to death at the end of the episode.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: While the Warden and Jared are communicating, one surveillance screen (unbeknownst to the Warden) depicts Alice bending a gimp-mask wearing inmate over and about to do...well, something unpleasant to him.
    • When the undercover Jared is introduced to the inmate population, there's an inmate with a tattoo reading "Homo Erectus", as well as one of a butt with the caption "Why not?" beside it.
    • As this was the last episode produced and animated for season 1, a few continuity nods can be seen on the Twins' surveillance screens: The furnace from "Mr. Grumpy-Pants", the vegetable garden (re-used from the pilot), the sea society from "Superbar", and the Superbar itself.
  • Gainax Ending: Superjail is left frozen over from the temperature control breaking, with the Warden frozen solid and still trying to lick Alice's breasts. Meanwhile, the Twins are just busy skating.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The serial killer attempts to stab Jared, but slips and falls eye-first on his own knife, killing himself in the process.
  • I Love the Dead: Alice flirts with and forces herself on the corpse of the serial killer, but winds up frozen.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: The new serial killer inmate (aside from his fixation on skinning humans for their flesh) likes murdering others to feast upon their body parts note
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Several inmates parody both the Insane Clown Posse and Slipknot, as the creators wanted them to look more dangerous in comparison to the standard inmate population.
  • Spies In a Van: Warden attempts to pull this off when he sends Jared undercover.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Janice gets her ladle quickly jammed through her head by the serial killer.
  • Tongue on the Flagpole: Alice gets frozen and stuck to the serial killer while forcing herself on him, and the Warden gets his tongue stuck to her while attempting to lick her frozen breasts.
  • The Unintelligible: All that the new serial killer inmate ever does is groan and growl a bit.
