Go To

Peter and Mary Jane are preparing for their wedding. When Harry Osborn learns Mary Jane will marry Peter instead of him he escapes from the mental hospital Peter put him in teams up with Alister Smythe and Silvermane and Scorpion and resumes being the second Green Goblin. Meanwhile Kingpin and Black Cat who have their own stake in Peter and Mary Jane's wedding team up with Spider-Man to Goblin Smythe and Silvermane as well as Scorpion from ruining their special day.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Similar to Eddie Brock with Venom, when Harry Osborn ends up in her care Ravencroft, Doctor Kafka insists that the Green Goblin isn't real, but just a psychotic delusion of Harry's. Which is pretty strange, considering the Green Goblin terrorized the city and kidnapped multiple people.
  • The Bus Came Back: Felicia was invited to the wedding.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Smythe expresses surprise over Harry being the infamous Green Goblin. Harry in turn says it was just as surprising to learn about Wilson Fisk's criminal ways.
  • Easily Forgiven: When it's all over, neither Peter nor Mary Jane have any ill will for Harry, due to his obvious problems and how he wants to be helped.
  • Enemy Mine: Kingpin helps Spider-Man and Black Cat fight off the Scorpion and the robots. He knows the robots were built by Smythe, which means his arch-rival Silvermane is bankrolling this, so he has a personal stake in this struggle.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Spider-Man, in a bid to get Scorpion to release Aunt May from his grasp, calls the green-garbed crook a coward who would probably send his own mother to fight his battles. Now, this might not seem like much on its own, but it had been established as far back as Season 1 that Scorpion's Berserk Button is being insulted and called names, so one would think that Spidey calling him a coward would have been enough. However...
Scorpion: That does it! ...Callin' me names is one thing, but nobody talks trash about my mother!
    • Which is a ridiculous reaction and shows his blind aggression since Spidey didn't even badmouth his mother but him. For him mentioning her was bad enough.
  • Irony: After Liz manages to talk some sense into him, Harry admits he's always hated weddings, anyway.
  • Morality Pet: Liz to Harry. Her love for him convinces Harry to abandon the Green Goblin mantle for good and continue his psychiatric treatment.
  • No-Sell: Scorpion's acid is useless against the Mega-Slayer that Kingpin is piloting.
  • Pet the Dog: Both the Kingpin and Jameson offer to pay for Peter’s wedding.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Even after his acid proves useless against the Mega-Slayer, Scorpion still tries his luck with a tail attack.
    Scorpion: Well, what about this?
Kingpin: [grabbing the tail] You figure it out! [spins him around until he is sent flying]
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After Liz gets through to him, an exhausted Harry says he feels like going back to Ravencroft and continuing his sessions.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Mary Jane told Harry about her impending marriage to Peter, feeling he deserved to hear it from her rather than through the grapevine. As a result, Harry starts listening to the Green Goblin again, cuts a deal with Silvermane's forces, and attacks the wedding.
  • Villainous Breakdown: The Green Goblin in response to being left in the void, with not even Harry listening to him anymore.
