Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • Tang Shen survives Yoshi and Saki's battle, just barely making it with lacerations in her back.
    • Since Tang Shen didn't die in this version, Miwa was never raised by the Shredder.
    • Since Tang Shen survived, she and Yoshi lived to have more children, the turtles from the original show being their quadruplet sons.
    • Because they aren't mutants, the Hamato clan have an actual mundane human life outside of being ninjas, including more human friends, a life at school and a family business at the Dojo.
  • Foreign Culture Fetish: Tang Shen seems to be a bigger geek of The Renaissance than Splinter, as it was her idea to name their sons after Renaissance painters and to name their family dojo "Renaissance Dojo".
  • Half-Identical Twins: While Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey are quadruplets in this version, they are all fraternal.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • The Hamato Brothers still have the same names and personalities as their canon-counterpart, Tang Shen being the one who named them instead of Splinter.
    • Hamato Yoshi is still called "Master Splinter".
  • Last of His Kind: In a case of Adaptation Expansion, it is clarified that Yoshi, Tang Shen and their children are now the last remaining members of the Hamato Clan since the Shredder had hunted down every other member that managed to escape his attack. The only reason they survived was because they had left Japan all together.
  • Making Room for Baby: When it was just Yoshi, Tang Shen and Miwa, they lived in a small apartment. When the quadruplets were born they moved into a house that doubled as the Renaissance Dojo.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Yoshi and Tang Shen went from having one child to five when Tang Shen had quadruplets.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In the original series, the turtles received their human DNA from Splinter via the mutagen long after Tang Shen's death, technically making them Kara's half-brothers in the loosest sense of the term. Here the four of them are Yoshi and Tang Shen's human sons, Miwa being their older sister.
