Recap / Sailor Moon R Ep 43 Usagi And The Girls Resolve Prelude To A New Battle

Go To

(DiC Episode: "Follow The Leader")

This episode is simply a recap of the series so far, as well as a preview of the coming third season, Sailor Moon S.

This episode has contained examples of:

  • The Dividual: Minako makes her case for being leader by citing her solo career, but Usagi reminds her of her disastrous stunt as a nurse. The other girls then point out that the two of them are practically twins with the same ditzy, clumsy attitude.
Usagi and Minako: I don't see that at all.
  • Dub Induced Plothole: Despite episode 42 of the original being cut from the DiC dub, clips from the episode still appear in the dub of this episode.
  • Dub-Induced Plotline Change: In the original version, this recap episode has the Sailor Guardians debate over who the new "heroine" of the series should be in a tounge-in-cheek way. The DiC version spices things up by re-writing it into a conflict of the Sailor Scouts trying to usurp Moon as the leader and removing the more tongue-in-cheek and borderline meta humor.
  • Fake Shemp: Probably because it would’ve cost money to pay Naz Edward’s and Dennis Akiyama to either reuse their dialogue or come in for one line, Jill Frappier and John Stocker voice Beryl and Malachite in the DiC dub.
  • Flashback with the Other Darrin: Terri Hawkes and Emilie-Claire Barlow re-voices scenes performed by Tracey Moore and Katie Griffin.
  • Humble Hero: Ami makes assorted comments for and against the others' leadership qualifications, but she's reluctant to make a case for herself. She has to be practically goaded into showing some of her own clips, and she's still rather half-hearted about it.
  • Insert Song: "Ai No Senshi" plays in the clips prior to the commercial break. The DiC dub replaces it with "Who Do You Think You Are?", a song between Serena and Raye.
