Alex, comfortable in Compton and falling hard for Livvie, is betrayed. Jonah gives Leslie a mission to retrieve his DNA from the Yorkeses while Catherine exacts vengeance against Darius. Janet decodes the Abstract and Molly sneaks out to fight crime.
- The Atoner: Victor seems to be heading this route, finally realizing what an abusive asshole he has been all these years.
- Bait the Dog: Darius makes his amends with Geoffrey and recives the (literal) keys to a better living... only for Catherine to murder and frame him for the death of Destiny Gonzales.
- Big Damn Heroes: The rest of the Runaways save Alex just as he is about to be brought into a plane by his dad.
- Big "NO!": Tamar's reaction when she finds out Darius is dead.
- Frame-Up: Catherine ends up murdering Darius in order to frame him for Destiny's murder.
- Internal Reveal: Victor learns that it was Janet who shot him. He had assumed it had been Robert.
- It Only Works Once: The massive drawback of the Staff of One: It can only respond to each individual command once. Doubles as a Mythology Gag as in the comics Nico could only perform a spell just once.
- Jerkass Ball: Justified. Gert is extremely on the edge throughout the episode, as a symptom of withdrawal from her antidepressants.
- Nothing Personal: Darius doesn't feel good about delivering Alex back to his dad, since he took a genuine liking to the kid.
- The Password Is Always "Swordfish": With Victor's help, Janet is able to guess the key to Jonah's cipher: The wave formula. Justified; Jonah couldn't risk writing the key down, so it had to be something relatively simple to remember. Plus, she was able to try a few other mathematical formulas first.
- Vigilante Man: Molly makes use of her powers by going out at night and beating up criminals.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Gert is not amused when she finds out about Molly's nightly activities.
- Wham Shot: Janet cracks Jonah's password and finds a starmap to what is quite likely Jonah's home planetary system.
