Ren learns that, while he's only ten years old, in dog years he's really seventy.
"Ren's Retirement" contains examples of:
- Early-Bird Cameo: Haggis MacHaggis makes his first appearance here, two episodes before his official introduction in "Hard Times for Haggis."
- Expy: The worm who visits Ren and Stimpy - and promptly devours them alive - in their luxury coffin is obviously based on Fred Flintstone.
- Grave Humor: Ren's tombstone has "I'll thank you to not drag your butt across my grave!" engraved on it. Nobody listens.
- Gross-Up Close-Up: "SEVENTY YEARS OLD!!!"
- Malaproper: "Rain? In Octember?"
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Ren was perfectly healthy until Stimpy pointed out that ten is seventy in dog years...
- Rapid Aging: ...which causes Ren to quickly deteriorate into a senile, wrinkled old geezer.
- Vomit Discretion Shot: When Stimpy vomits both from eating too much cake, and from witnessing Ren's aging, we only see his back side, but we do see some cake flying everywhere.
