Mordecai and Rigby are invited to the 1000th Chopper Flight of Margaret's dad. Mordecai naturally is reluctant to go as he doesn't want to upset CJ but she encourages him to which he promises to save her a slice of cake. Naturally this leads to some awkwardness when he sees Margaret there and it only gets worse when CJ shows up.
1000th Chopper Flight Party has the following tropes
- Broken Tears: CJ at the end.
- Continuity Nod: To Family BBQ when Frank and Denise fall off the helicopter and have to cannonball into the pool to save themselves.
- Downer Ending: While the misunderstanding is cleared up, CJ feels bad about nearly killing Mordecai, Margaret, and Margaret's parents in a jealous rage and runs away in tears.
- Karmic Injury / The Dog Bites Back: There are many instances throughout the series in which Mordecai punches Rigby. Here, Rigby does the same thing to him as revenge, and it actually hurts.
- Like a Son to Me: Frank state this of Mordecai despite the fact he isn't dating his daughter anymore.
- Mistaken for Cheating: When CJ sees Mordecai and Margaret on the helicopter, she assumes they're cheating. Deconstructed when she realizes that Margaret really isn't trying to steal Mordecai away from her (as she already moved on to a new boyfriend) and she cries over nearly killing Mordecai, Margaret, Frank and Denise over essentially nothing.
- Not What It Looks Like: Pretty much everything when CJ arrives and sees Mordecai and Margaret just hanging out while taking the 1000th chopper ride.
- Shipper on Deck: Frank clearly wants to see Mordecai and Margaret as a couple again and was crushed when Margaret revealed that she has a new boyfriend.
- Wham Episode: Margaret reveals she has a new boyfriend (the weather man who works at the same TV news station as she does) much to the shock of Mordecai and her father.
