Written by Benton Connor, Calvin Wong and Hillary Florido.

Rigby tries to improve his luck by swapping cookie fortunes with Benson, sending Benson spiraling down a path of misery after Benson's swapped fortune comes true.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: James Hong basically plays Lo Pan during this episode.
  • Cutting the Knot: Mordecai tries to get Rigby's attention about the warlock sucking up the Park. But Rigby tells him to wait until he's off the phone. Mordecai responds by taking the phone from Rigby and throwing it toward a wall.
  • It's All About Me: Rigby doesn't care about any of Benson's problems as long as he gets his own way for once.
  • Jerkass Ball: Rigby is even more callous than usual, showing no remorse for deliberately putting Benson through the wringer out of spite.
  • Karma Houdini: Rigby switches his fortune of bad luck with Benson's fortune of good luck, which leads to huge consequences and Benson chewing him out for it. Muscle Man does the same thing with Rigby's fortune before him — in fact, it's how Rigby (and then Benson) gets his bad luck in the first place, meaning it also falls on Muscle Man for leading to it — but he completely gets away with it and even ends up stealing Rigby's intended fortune. Justified because no one finds this out, with High-Five Ghost (the only witness) presumably not telling anyone.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • In the end, not only does Benson refuse to forgive Rigby for everything the latter did, but Rigby rightfully ends up losing all his unearned luck.
    • Despite it being revealed at the end of the episode, Muscle Man pretty much gets it for switching out the fortunes in his and Rigby's fortune cookies, by getting sucked into the warlock's fanny pack.
  • Lost Him in a Card Game: Benson's bad luck streak culminates in losing the Park in a wager to a warlock. Said warlock then enlarges to giant size and begins sucking the whole Park up into his fanny pack.
  • Naked People Trapped Outside: When Benson is locked out of his apartment while wearing only a bathrobe, a nearby janitor with a vacuum accidentally sucks his bathrobe off his body, leaving him humiliated and naked in front of his crush. Of course, considering he doesn't wear clothes anyway, this shouldn’t make any sense.
  • Plot Hole: Mordecai isn't glad that Rigby chose to switch fortunes, but the ending reveals Muscle Man did it first and is why Rigby initially got the bad luck fortune — and Mordecai was there the entire time, even looking at Muscle Man. Despite this, he never stops Muscle Man or even brings up what he did, but does have a problem with Rigby doing it who gets all the blame instead, turning Muscle Man into a Karma Houdini. High-Five Ghost, who was also there and knows what happened, doesn't say anything either.
  • Rejected Apology: Rigby apologizes to Benson for switching the latter's fortune at the Chinese restaurant. Benson, understandably, doesn't accept it.
  • Reset Button: Rigby and Benson switching their fortunes back magically undo any ongoing consequences of his bad luck streak, with the warlock suddenly disappearing like their wager is suddenly nullified.
  • Tempting Fate: When Benson gets a fortune cookie that says “Bad luck is coming your way”, he scoffs at it, saying that no fortune cookie message will ruin the lucky streak that he’s on. Cue the misfortune happening as soon as he walks out of the place...
  • This Is Unforgivable!: As expected, Benson refuses to forgive Rigby even after he tells the truth.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Muscle Man. As it turns out, he was the one who gave Rigby the bad luck fortune, leading to the horrible chain of events.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
