Tropes

  • Brick Joke: Like in ISSUE 201, Jonathan uses Admiral Annihilation as his superhero name. This time, Dion and Esperanza let him keep it since they believe her earned it.
  • Demonic Possession: While Brayden was still partly in control of his actions up to this point, the Crooked Man now fully takes over his body.
  • Don't Think, Feel: What Nicole's advise to Esperanza about how to sing for her role in the musical boils down to; she has to let her emotions shine through.
  • Easily Forgiven: Averted. Despite his help to find a cure for Nicole, Suzanne has not fogotten the attrocities Pat committed as the Crooked Man, and has him locked up again once a team of experts arrives at Biona to take over the research. Unfortunately, this finally seems to push Pat over the edge as he secretly injects himself with the serum.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: During their fight at school, Brayden taunts Dion how Dion will now feel what it is like to be all alone. Cue Jonathan busting into the room with a fire extinguisher, followed by Esperanza.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: At the start of the episode, Dion overpowers Brayden by intentionally entering Brayden's memory of his life on the farm, and free the young Brayden who is trapped in that memory.
  • No-Sell: Esperanza is somehow immune to Brayden's mental powers. She is the only one besides Dion whom he fails to put asleep, and when he tries to turn her on Dion she responds with a Blunt "No".
  • Reminder of Duty: The news that Nicole is dying remembers Kat why she wanted to be a doctor, and she heads off to Biona to help Pat create a new serum.
  • Rescue Equipment Attack: Jonathan uses a fire extinguisher as a weapon against Brayden.
  • Powers as Programs: While Suzanne previously declared it impossible, the serum that Pat is working on can actually be used to inject the superpowerd DNA in regular people and potentially give them powers.
  • Sadistic Choice: Though not presented by a villain; Nicole can either stay in quarantine and be turned into a plant monster in 2 days, or take the serum Biona was able to create which will keep the infection at bay, but eventually kill her. She chooses the latter.
  • Secretly Dying: Nicole keeps Dion in the dark about her condition so they can spend some final good moments.
  • Self-Duplication: Brayden uses his powers to make himself appear all around Dion. Dion fails to pick the right Brayden. Jonathan is more succesful.
  • Take Care of the Kids: Kate is of course first in line to become Dions' guardian when Nicole is gone, but she asks Tevin to also be there for Dion, to which he agrees.
