On the night of the day the dunkleosteus mission, a newly suspended from rescue mission duty Leon and Jack meet up together outside the former's bungalow to have a long overdue discussion.
- Adaptational Context Change: In Prehistoric Earth, Jack explicitly voiced how his tendency to tell jokes was largely more of a coping mechanism than anything else in response to Drew asking him about said tendency long before his Teeth-Clenched Teamwork comes to a head in the 'episode' from that story that immediately followed. Here, he gives almost the exact same explanation verbatim to Leon instead not too long after their antagonism has finally reached boiling point and gotten them suspended.
- Jerkass Realization: As Jack himself admits over the course of his talk with Leon, he realizes now after having gotten himself suspended from active rescue mission work that there were a couple points in his earlier antagonism against Leon where he may have gone a little overboard.
- Mirror Character: Over the course of establishing their titular truce, Leon and Jack both become fully aware of each other's less than ideal experiences in school prior to work at the park.
- Morality Chain: Downplayed case, but over the course of hanging out with Kaa the dinilysia at the beginning of the chapter, Jack finally decides to go talk and apologize to Leon after a serendipitous seeming Meaningful Look directed at him by her.
- "Ray of Hope" Ending: While not yet friends, the ending of the chapter makes it clear that Jack and Leon have at least set themselves on the first steps in the right direction for improving their working relationship.
- Sad Clown: Jack fully admits his status as this to Leon over the course of their work at establishing their titular truce.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: It is at this point that Jack and Leon finally come to an agreement that their past history of this has become too problematic and that they need to start working to improve things between them.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Averted at last on Jack's part via him finally thanking Leon properly for his assistance in saving Yolanda from the crassigyrinus during the events of South of Heaven.
