"It Was The Change" is the twelfth episode of the second season of Orange Is the New Black.

Vee discards Taystee from her family as punishment for Poussey's actions. Flashbacks depict how Vee deals with competition. A major storm floods the prison grounds, forcing everyone to bunk in the cafeteria and pushing tensions higher.
- As Himself: American Football player Tiki Barber is the guest of honor at the Figueroas' fundraiser.
- Chekhov's Gun: Back in the second episode there's a scene of Taystee and Vee mourning over the loss of their family member RJ. In this episode we find out there's a lot more to the story.
- Dirty Cop: Vee has one on her payroll.
- Disproportionate Retribution: When Vee finds out that RJ is going into business for himself, she uses her cop friend to have him killed.
- Freudian Excuse: Healy's Berserk Button concerning lesbianism is revealed to have resulted from taking Hanna Rosin's The End of Men a little bit too seriously.
- I Have Your Wife: Vee's threats towards Red aren't very effective. But her threats towards her son ...
- May–December Romance: Vee has one with RJ. It's all a setup to get him out alone at night so her cop friend can frame and kill him.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Taystee, after attempting to punch Poussey.
- Odd Friendship: Pennsatucky and Boo. Essentially one-sided, since Boo is just feeding Pennsatucky horseshit about the gay agenda.
- Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: One of Vee's main strategies.
- Title Drop: during her flashback, Vee realizes she's going through menopause.
- Wife Husbandry: Vee seduces her foster son RJ. Subverted in that it's a ruse to get back at him for starting his own business behind her back.
- Why Don't Ya Just Shoot Him?: Red attempts to take matters into her own hands. She can't go through with it.
- Vee can.
