Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 41 Yappily Ever After

Go To

After injuring Clarissa's human, Hugo, Dolly needs to work as Clarissa's servant until Hugo returns.

This episode features examples of:

  • Brutal Honesty: After Doug suggests that Dolly be Clarissa's temporary servant, Dolly complains that she will miss the Fetch Ball Finals. Delilah, however, reminds Dolly that she was responsible for getting Hugo injured in the first place, and that she has to "suffer the consequences" for it.
  • Can't Get Away with Nuthin': After Dolly's tennis ball machine incident gets Hugo injured, the former is immediately punished by having to be Clarissa's servant until Hugo gets back. When you consider the fact that Dolly usually gets away with her crap, that makes it all the more satisfying.
  • Continuity Nod: Mr. Fuzzy and Lucy are sitting together on the bench where Dolly meets the royal corgi.
  • A Day in Her Apron: Dolly needs to work as Clarissa's servant after Hugo is injured. When Dolly tells Dylan about all the chores she has been made to do, Dylan points out that Dolly is breaking down after having to spend one afternoon doing what he does every single day.
  • Funny Background Event: While Dylan is cleaning Clarissa's house, he comments how nice it is to clean up and not have it be immediately messed up... while Fergus and Sid are busy making a mess in the background, and Big Fee is taking Clarissa's food.
  • King Incognito: One of the royal corgis hides under a bench with Dolly, feeling overwhelmed by the crowd.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Clarissa threatens to have Dolly arrested for human cruelty after she accidentally hits Hugo with a barrage of tennis balls. Clarissa herself gets arrested for pet cruelty after she collides into Hugo, while trying to act like she knows how to skate.
  • Mythology Gag: To attend the fetch ball finals, Big Fee disguises Dolly as a Labrador by covering her in soot, much like how the Dalmatians do to escape Cruella in the original 101 Dalmatians.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: When Dylan comments how Dolly has been doing what he does literally every day, Dolly does not notice the sarcasm in his voice.
  • Shout-Out: What the animals call the "Fetch Ball Finals" is what humans refer to as tennis. When shown on the screen, the game resembles a game of Pong.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The episode is a large homage to Cinderella, with Dolly as Cinderella, Clarissa as the stepmother and Arabella and Prunella as the stepsisters. Dolly even lampshades this by calling her skateboard "better than a pumpkin."
