Recap / OKKO Lets Be Heroes S 2 E 17 Mystery Sleepover

Go To

K.O., Enid and Rad attempt to solve a mystery.

Tropes:

  • Ambiguously Evil: The Reveal of the way Chip's treated the Gifted and Talented class paints him in a rather unfavorable light, as he's endangered the safety of them and others basically just to artificially improve their academic performance. It also casts a shadow over the whole of POINT Prep and POINT in general, though we don't know their level of involvement... at least until a few episodes later.
  • Broken Pedestal: KO, Enid and Rad are understandably horrified and confused when they find out what Chip does to POINT's top students in order to improve their performance.
  • Casting a Shadow: Enid pulls out a couple jutsus that use her shadow.
  • Conveniently Timed Distraction: Enid, Rad, and K.O. avoid getting caught by Professor Sunshine when she instead catches Pastel and Koala Princess raiding the kitchen for midnight snacks.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Chip using glorbs to boost the performances of honor students has disturbing parallels to a coach pushing his students to use steroids.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: When Chip Damage hears Enid and her friends, he thinks it might just be another infestation of "rat people in the vents".
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: Despite Elodie reconciling with Enid, she shows herself to still be quite an elitist, putting KO down to the point of making him cry for even suggesting he could enroll in POINT Prep. Enid suspects the school's environment encourages this type of behavior. And she, K.O., and Rad discover damning evidence that she may be right.
  • The Reveal: Chip Damage uses glorbs (a valuable and powerful source of energy previously seen sought after by villains) to "power-up" top students (such as Elodie and Sparko) once every week, telling them to use them wisely, but also activates them without their consent if he feels like the situation calls for it.
  • Scooby Stack: KO, Rad, and Enid form one when they spy on Elodie.
  • Super Mode: Chip Damage uses glorbs in order to give POINT's students temporary power boosts.
  • Totem Pole Trench: Since none of the trio have what it takes individually to get past the security drones guarding the entrance to the secret class, K.O. has himself, Rad, and Enid dress up as "a very tall hero" and trick the drones into scanning all three of them at once. It doesn't work, but after the three stun the drones it reboots and scans them all at once, which works.
  • Wham Episode: Turns out, P.O.I.N.T Academy isn’t what it seems... and neither is Chip Damage. Somehow, Chip has access to glorbs (which previously debuted back in "Let's Have a Stakeout") and is secretly pumping the honor students full of glorbs to give them an edge. Either they use the power boost themselves to make the school look good, or Chip forcibly activates it.
