Owen is arrested for arson.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Big Damn Heroes: Just before TK and Carlos make the jump out of the burning townhouse, Owen and Billy arrive in the bedroom to lead them outside while Judd briefly stays downstairs to try and extinguish the flames. Unfortunately, he has to join them outside before the roof flashes over.
  • Downer Ending: The day is saved, everyone is fine, and then Tommy comes home to find her husband dead, apparently from an aneurysm.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: As they debrief Judd on the arson case, Billy notes that Raymond seemed to be talking to Gabriel as well as Owen. Owen then realizes that the arsonist had time to set one more fire, and that he threatened both of them— meaning that TK and Carlos are his next arson victims.
  • Freak Out: TK and Carlos each have one in reaction to their indirect involvement in the arson case:
    • When Carlos breaks the news about Gabriel arresting Owen, TK is at first shocked, then increasingly enraged at the implication that Gabriel and possibly Carlos think that Owen was responsible for arsonnote . As it gets to the point that he raises his voice and shoves Carlos back twice, it takes Carlos putting him in a hold and Judd intervening for him to back off.
    • Carlos, on finding that his townhouse was targeted while he and TK were in the bedroom, panics at the growing fire and is barely able to keep up with TK’s directions when they try to escape through the window.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Investigator Raymond claims that of him and Owen, and Owen does admit that he figured out the arsonist’s MO because that's how he'd do it.
  • Obviously Not Fine: Carlos clumsily tries to assure TK of his being “fine” while clearly shaken himself, but both of them don’t buy it. He then collapses into TK’s arms in tears, blaming himself for their predicament.
  • The Reveal: Owen and Major Reyes have been working together, and the arrest was faked.
  • Self-Immolation: Dennis Raymond, after revealing the rest of his arson plan, sets himself on fire to avoid going to prison.
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: TK and Carlos’ sex scene is juxtaposed with Owen and Billy hurriedly driving to Carlos’ townhouse, to the tune of Elvis Presley’s cover of “Fever”.
