Recap / Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers S1E41 Rita's Seed of Evil

Go To

For a school project, the Rangers spend the afternoon planting trees in the park. But, Rita has some seeds of her own and sends Squatt down to plant her latest monster, the Octoplant.

Tropes

  • Call-Back: After the battle, Kimberly states that only Rita could take something as beautiful as a plant and make it evil, possibly referencing the Spitflower from its' titular episode (said episode was focused on Kim and her being the main victim).
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: In the villains' Imagine Spot.
  • Epic Fail:
    • Bulk's attempt to one-up the rangers with the plastic trees is ruined because Skull didn't pull off the price tags, much to the former's irritation.
    • Also, during Trini's section of the Putty fight, two of the grunts end up smashing into each other without her actively doing anything. The look on her face just screams "Yeah, that happened."
  • Fainting: Poor Mr. C gets a good whiff of Bulk and Skull after their dumpster accident and promptly passes out.
  • Locked in the Bathroom: After a run-in with Squatt, Bulk and Skull find themselves trapped in a porta potty for most of the episode. What makes it worse (for Bulk) is that Skull has to actually go after a while.
  • Narcissist: The Octoplant, which ends up being her downfall.
  • She's a Man in Japan: Octoplant's counterpart Dora Narcissus is male in Zyuranger.
  • Shout-Out: Zordon says that he senses a major disturbance in the Morphing Grid when the earthquake begins.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Mr. Caplan seems more cordial around the teens this time, especially in light of the water fountain incident that occurred in "A Bad Reflection on You". Then again, he probably expects that they learned their lesson after a day in detention, despite the fact that the ones who pranked him were actually Twin Man and the Putty Patrol in disguise.
