Recap / Mary Shelley's Frankenhole S1E5 "Death"

Go To

Death himself blights the halls of Castle Frankenstein and demands respect from its immortal residents. Meanwhile, Victor is desperate for his elderly children to die.

This episode provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Abusive Parents: Victor's sociopathy extends to his elderly children, uncaring that Death threatened to take them. When it becomes clear that Death won't do it, he slits their throats in a vain attempt at remedying it.
  • Death Is a Loser: The episode establishes The Grim Reaper as a loser who, beyond his Large Ham tendencies, is insecure about Victo's low opinion of him.
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: After Victor moons Death, Death in-kind decides to not reap his two elderly sons like he wanted, leaving him and Elizabeth to be stuck with them for the foreseeable future until Victor gives him his respect.
  • Kick the Dog: Or cat, Death petting a stray cat and counting down from nine.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Being a Complete Immortality, Elizabeth doesn't even flinch when Nosferatu claws at her throat and the Mummy yanks her head off.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Having been married for centuries, Victor has taken to surgically removing the semen from his body with no anesthetic because sex has long since lost its appeal. Polidori points out that his unwillingness to sexually satisfy Elizabeth is the cause of her extramarital affair with Dracula.
