Recap / Mao Mao S 1 E 12 Sick Mao

Go To

When Mao Mao won't admit that he's sick, he puts the town in danger.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Beam-O-War: Badgerclops gets into one of these when he uses his "Badger Blaster" against the ice monster, who counters it with an ice beam that overpowers Badgerclops and freezes him.
  • Human Popsicle: Mao Mao gets frozen by the ice monster when he attempts to subdue it. Later in the episode, Badgerclops and Adorabat get frozen as well when they try to fight the monster without Mao Mao (who was forced to rest due to his illness).
  • Share the Sickness:Mao Mao defeats the ice dragon by giving it his disease.
  • Shout-Out: Mao Mao defeating the ice dragon is a massive shout out to Mobile Fighter G Gundam. When he starts out his attack, he utters "My body burns with a terrible fever...", similar to Domon Kasshu's starting quote for using the Shining Finger "This hand of mine glows with an awesome power!" Mao later utters "Take this! My germs! My virus! And all of my pathogens!" similar to how Domon, upon using the Shining Finger Sword, would shout "Take this! My love, my anger AND ALL OF MY SORROW!". For bonus points, the song played during this scene begins with a parody of the Shining Finger theme.
  • Sick Episode: Mao Mao is sick, but he won't admit it because he thinks that would make him weak. He uses this to his advantage against the ice dragon that's attacking the valley by making it sick with his germs.
  • Tongue on the Flagpole: When Badgerclops gets frozen by the ice monster, he tries to lick himself free, but this only succeeds with him getting his tongue stuck on the ice.
  • Uvula Escape Route: After Mao Mao is eaten by an ice dragon, he retaliates by spreading his germs around the dragon's mouth to make it sick, and one of these methods included punching its uvula like a speedbag.
  • Working Through the Cold: Mao Mao tries to fight the ice dragon while he has a cold... with little success. He eventually manages to defeat the monster by making it sick.
