Magnum follows Higgins to find out what she's up to, just as her secret work with MI6 reaches an important phase. He learns that a wealth of sensitive data was stolen by MI6 by a former agent... including Higgins' file. If that gets out, she's a dead woman.
Rick struggles with grief and anger in the aftermath of his friend's murder.
Tropes:
- Artistic Licence – Military: Rick would not describe himself as an ex-Marine. He'd say "former."
- Awesomeness by Analysis: Seeing Higgins dropped off with a bag on her head allows Magnum to figure out that she got into trouble in Kenya and is now working for MI6 after they bailed her out.
- Bag of Kidnapping: Higgins is transported to her meeting with Sean Cavendish in a van, with a bag on her head. Magnum witnessing her dropped off in this manner after the meeting is somewhat hard to explain.
- Big Damn Heroes: After being exposed as the mole, Higgins is offered a Join or Die. Fortunately, that's when Magnum creates a distraction, having learned separately that Cavendish was planning to kill Higgins all along.
- Boom, Headshot!: How Eve is killed.
- Dangerous Deserter: Cavendish's Freudian Excuse is that he was captured and tortured while on a mission for MI6. He doesn't know who did it, only that MI6 didn't come for him. He wants revenge, which is why he went rogue and stole the data to harm them.
- Divide and Conquer: During the staged interrogation, Higgins gives Eve the name Oliver Kent, one of Cavendish's agents, to give up as her mole. This has the agents at each others' throats until Cavendish works out what Higgins did.
- Inspector Javert: FBI Agent Sloane turns out to have taken personal time to hunt for Robbie off the record, presumably leading the Albanian mafia straight to him and resulting in his murder. He's sent back to Chicago to answer for his actions.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: To protect her cover, Higgins delivers one to her MI6 handler Eve when she's captured by Cavendish's agents.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Magnum becomes concerned about Higgins when she doesn't come to check on Rick after his car is bombed. He's even more concerned when he tracks her phone only to find it abandoned.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Higgins delivers one to Sean Cavendish about his claim to have freed himself from MI6.Higgins: You know, you were wrong earlier, Sean. I did get out. And I came here, and I built a better life with people who actually do care whether I live or die. But not you. Everything you've done in the last few years has been about MI6. You're still a prisoner. You just don't know it.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Rick sets off to kill Robbie's murderers when he learns the FBI don't have enough to hold them and they're about to leave the country. T.C. talks him down by telling him that Robbie sacrificed his future so Rick could have a good life, and Rick owes him better than throwing that life away.
- Spotting the Thread: Cavendish works out that Higgins is Eve's mole when he plays back the footage of her interrogation and realises Higgins fed Eve the name she gave by tapping it out in Morse code.
- They Know Too Much: The reason the Albanian Mafia killed Rick's friend Robbie and might kill Rick if they think Robbie told him anything.
