Recap / Lost Girl S 2 E 7 Fae Gone Wild

Go To

The episode opens with strippers waltzing their way into the precinct and walking out with a cop-killer. This brings Dyson and Hale in on the case, as this clearly involves mystical power to hypnotize the cops. Bo's brought in on the case by one of the strippers' mothers, as she doesn't want her daughter associated with this. Things get complicated when the cop-killer turns up ritually murdered.

  • Call-Back: Bo's a sucker for a mother-daughter reunion
  • Distracted by the Sexy: The stripper Sherry's power. It doesn't affect Fae... but Bo's still distracted.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Even Kenzi's hypnotized by Sherry.
  • Fanservice: Seriously. Criminal strippers and investigating a strip club.
  • Hand of Glory: Why the selkie strippers abducted the killer; they needed one of his hands to make one of these so they can open the safe where the owner of the stripclub they're forced to work in keeps their pelts.
  • Let Her Grow Up, Dear: A rare maternal inversion: At the end of the episode, Bo helps Sherry and her mother reconcile, with the former understanding why her mother tried to hide her Fae heritage, and the latter understanding she needs to let her daughter make her own way in life.
  • My Beloved Smother: Invoked: Sherry's mother, also a Selkie, gave up her pelt when she fell in love with a human fisherman while pregnant. When her daughter was born, she hid Sherry's pelt, hoping she'd have a normal life, but when Sherry hit puberty, she began to realise she was different. When Sherry found out her mother had lied to her about her Fae origins, it resulted in a massive argument that culminated in Sherry running away from home.
  • "Not So Different" Remark:
    • Dyson lets Sherry go when she explains the significance of her pelt, understanding what it's like to lose something that makes you what you are.
    • Bo empathises with Sherry because she's know what it's like to grow up thinking you're human, only to find out you're Fae.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: After hearing the truth of matters from Bo and Sherry, Dyson and Hale let the selkie strippers go free and cover up the cop-killer's murder as a suicide.
  • Selkies and Wereseals: Sherry and her fellow strippers are all selkies, forced to work by the club owner who keeps their pelts, preventing them from being able to transform and return to the sea.
  • Squick: The guy busted out of prison by the strippers is found hanged by the neck and mutilated. In-Universe, Bo finds it gross.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: While investigating, Bo quickly starts shoving things in her pockets so she can make a getaway, and also shoves something in her bra.
