Written By Jill Abbinanti

Directed By Holly Dale

The suspected kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl leads detectives to her boyfriend, a scholarship student from the Projects who is discovered to be part of a local gang despite his bright future. After the girl is found in the midst of a suicide attempt, she reveals that she had been gang-raped and her boyfriend made to watch. Even worse (in her opinion) she had experienced multiple orgasm during the attack. Her boyfriend refuses to help SVU, citing the girl's multiple orgasms as proof that she had enjoyed the assault, and further evidence proves that the gang in question was responsible for multiple attacks. Meanwhile, Benson is sworn in as the SVU's new sergeant.

Tropes

  • Anorgasmia: Avery never had an orgasm before the gang-rape, even during sex with Manny, making the experience even more traumatic for her, as she gets blamed by him for "enjoying it".
  • Broken Pedestal: Initally played straight when Avery learns that Manny knew that his gang was coming to rape her, even expressly telling Amanda not to defend his actions, but ends up subverted in the end of the episode, where she believes that Manny confessing knowing that his gang would kill him proved that he loved her and is upset believing that Manny died thinking she didn't love him anymore.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The Victim of the Week's boyfriend sets her up to be gang-raped, and to her horror, she experiences an orgasm during her ordeal.
  • Driven to Suicide: Avery is discovered by the police while standing over the rooftop ready to jump, due to the anguish she feels over the gang-rang, but they manage to calm her down and convince her otherwise.
  • Emasculated Cuckold: Manny feels this way due to the fact he was never able to give Avery an orgasm while she had several during the gang-rape, assuming she enjoyed it. The other gang members also explicitly mocked him for it. He isn't portrayed as sympathetic giving he's only thinking about his feelings, and not what his girlfriend suffered through.
  • Fatal Flaw: Manny's ultimtely that he's spineless when it comes to his gang. Despite wanting to warn Avary about what his gang is coming to do to her, he ends up too scared of what they'll go do to him to do so, and on top of that, he refuses to confess to his part of the crime because he's afraid of what she'll think of him when she finds out he knew they were coming to rape her.
  • Forced Orgasm: Avery, the Victim of the Week, experiences multiple orgasms when she's gang-raped, and she feels disgusted with herself due to it, to the point she's almost Driven to Suicide. But Olivia makes it clear to her this is a normal physiological response and she has nothing to be ashamed of.
  • Forced to Watch: Manny is forced to watch Avery being raped by the gang members while held at gunpoint. Downplayed when it's revealed he knew what would happen, but was too cowardly to back out.
  • I Will Punish Your Friend for Your Failure: The squad discover that this trope is why Manny's gang went to rape his girlfriend, to punish him for screwing up a deal to get oxy from their supplier by unknowingly getting a bunch of aspirin instead.
  • The Loins Sleep Tonight: When the gang members try to force Manny to rape Avery after they all had their turn, he's unable to do it, which they mock him for.
  • "Not If They Enjoyed It" Rationalization: The three gang members who raped the Victim of the Week use this argument in their defense, claiming they didn't rape her due to the number of orgasms she had during the act. Marisol, the gang leader's girlfriend, also trots out this argument for the detectives when they confront her.
  • Rank Up: Olivia is officially promoted to sergeant in this episode.
  • Tongue Trauma: Manny is killed by having his tongue cut out, as punishment for snitching on his gang.
