After escaping the jaws of the Mosasaurus, The gang now has to evacuate to the island’s main dock by using the monorail system. However, to do this, they have to sneak past the recently escaped Toro and then have to fend off an attacking flock of Pteranodons.

  • Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene: The campers get a breather to get to know each other better while riding the monorail, and to wonder how their lives will go on after surviving Jurassic World’s fall.
  • Cliffhanger: After a Pteranodon tries to snatch Ben, Darius grabs hold of Ben's arm. As Ben holds on for dear life, the camera zooms in as Darius begins to lose grip on Ben's hand.
  • Disgusting Vegetarian Food: Ben offers everyone carob bars and carob juice boxes on the monorail ride. Everyone else quickly learns carob is an “acquired taste”, and only Ben is willing to eat them. Keep in mind, the campers have been on the run all day and only eaten a few fistfuls of abandoned popcorn at the Lagoon bleachers, and they’re still too disgusted to finish them.
  • Hope Spot: Toro has been left behind, the campers are on the monorail to the docks with time to spare, everyone is alive, things are quiet… and then the Pteranodons show up.
  • Life Saving Misfortune: Inverted. Darius sees his father's untimely passing as more of a "Misfortune-saving-death" that kept him from seeing Jurassic World at its lowest. In the least, he's grateful for that, in a sobering way.
  • Missed Him by That Much: Roxie and Dave miss the campers at the lagoon stadium by only a few minutes, but see them taking the monorail, and try to meet up with them at the docks.
  • Must Make Amends: Ben is visibly distraught that he froze up when Toro nearly got Yaz, and Darius had to rescue her. He decides to get over his fear and when he’s needed, he climbs atop the monorail to get to the train controls to either brake or get them on another track.
  • Properly Paranoid: Kenji spends the first few minutes of the monorail ride on edge, wondering what disaster will hit them next. It turns out they have just enough time for a few minutes of reflection before the Pteranodons attack.
  • So Much for Stealth: The kids attempt to sneak around Toro in order to escape on the Monorail. However, the sound of an announcement blaring on a speaker gets Toro's attention and they have to flee up the steps.
  • Super-Persistent Predator: When Toro sees the campers climbing the stairs to the monorail, the Carnotaurus tries pursuing them up the steps that are far too small for his large feet, despite stumbling and falling hard every few steps. Somewhat acknowledged in that Toro has been explicitly stated to be far more aggressive than the park’s other Carnotaurus.
  • Throwing the Distraction: Darius tosses a rock to distract Toro while everyone tries to sneak onto the monorail.
  • Tough Love: On the monorail, everyone wonders why the Nervous Wreck Ben ever went to a place like Camp Cretaceous in the first place. Ben confesses that his mother, who works for Masrani, forced him to go, hoping it would toughen him up a bit.
  • Track Trouble: It turns out the Pteranodons will attack anything shiny and moving, and just after sunset, the brightly-lit monorail trains are prime targets. The trains are still moving automatically, but one of the tracks is blocked by another train that the Pteranodons damaged too badly to move.
