Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 2 E 39 The Amazing T Girl

Go To

Captain Black's higher ups require the talismans to be removed from the vault. Jackie and Uncle decide to bring them to a temple in China.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Jade absorbs the talisman powers.
  • Batman Gambit: Prior to leaving for China, Captain Black sent a memo of the talismans to the Vice President of the United States, who was intrigued at the end of the episode and asked for a demonstration, much to Jade's delight.
  • Blowing a Raspberry: Jade does this in the beginning of the episode; later on, after she gets the talisman powers it turns out doing this activates Dragon.
  • Brick Joke: Jade assumes she can't use her middle fingers to utilize two of the Talisman powers. She later blows a raspberry, which activates the Dragon Talisman's effect.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: The Dark Chi Warriors manage to bring the Talismans to Wong, but after he fails to use the powers he knows them to possess, he concludes that they're forgeries and that Uncle must have hidden the real Talismans somewhere else. It's only when Jade appears to fight him with the Talisman powers that he realizes what has happened.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The immobilization spell Daolon casts on Jade gets absorbed by him when he's trying to drain the Talisman powers from her.
  • Handicapped Badass: Daolon immobilizes Jade, but as she points out, she still has the Talisman powers, and Jackie is able to activate them for her.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: Seems like another one-off episode even given that it is the last of season 2 (and networks even sometimes aired Demon World after this as it had more of a Grand Finale feel), but it actually sets up the entirety of season 3 which sees Wong travel to America to continue his hunt for the Talismans only for their powers to be dispersed around the globe.
  • Living Toy: Jade uses the rat talisman's motion to the motionless power to bring her Super Moose stuffed animal to life.
  • The Nose Knows:
    • The Dark Chi Warriors are able to smell Jade and capture her when she goes invisible. Daolon Wong explains that they're able to smell the Talisman magic she's using.
    • Super Moose is able to find Daolon's hideout with his nose. Uncle explains that because he's empowered by the Rat Talisman's power, he's able to track the other Talismans' powers because "magic seeks magic".
  • Shout-Out: When Black thinks that one of the monks is speaking metaphorically about the Talismans' powers being within, he compares it to "may the Force be with you".
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Captain Black in an attempt to prove to his superior the (now powerless) talismans are. He uses the snake talisman and asks "Am I over here or over here?" Later, Daolon does the same thing with his Dark Chi Warriors.
  • Unfortunate Item Swap: Uncle's spell to remove the talisman powers from Jade put them in the wrong talismans. The only one we know of is that the horse talisman now holds the power of dragon combustion.
  • Superheroes Wear Capes: Jade uses a curtain to give herself a cape.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: When a Ben Shui monk tells Jackie, Uncle and Captain Black that the power of the Talismans lie within, Black assumes that the holy man is trying to speak spiritually. The monk clarifies that the Talismans' powers are literally within Jade who's inside the temple.
