It's Career Day at school, where the students are told their likely job prospects and assigned to spend the day with professionals in those fields. While Zim is assigned to fast food service, Dib is partnered with a paranormal investigator named Bill, and tries to expose Zim to him. Something that may be aided by an event called the Galactic Equinox.Tropes
- Bizarre Alien Biology: Being off of his own planet during the Equinox causes Zim to molt into a gigantic mass of flesh that fills out the entire MacMeaties and keeps overflowing from there.
- Burger Fool: While nowhere near as bad as Foodcourtia, the work conditions at MacMeaties are far from ideal. Zim's mentor mentions that if he ever takes a break (even for a medical emergency), it'll stay on his record forever and he'll never get promoted.
- Call-Back: Zim being assigned to fast food references how he was once banished to Foodcourtia, as mentioned back in "The Nightmare Begins".
- Conspiracy Theorist: Bill, who believes that a cereal mascot vampire is real, but that Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster are hoaxes.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: "I'm going to be a paranormal investigator, so I can expo- (camera pans over to Melvin) Hey, I wasn't finished."
- Multiple-Choice Past: Ms. Bitters claims she once built a homemade rocket that imploded on her when she flew into space. Which doesn't quite line up with the claims she'll make in the Halloween Episode about having once been a fairy princess.
- Shout-Out: Dib's mentor Bill is a parody of Agent Smith from The Matrix.
- When the Planets Align: The Galactic Equinox is an event where every planet in the universe is perfectly aligned with each other.
