While the Royal Family is finally reunited, Maximus has to send in more reinforcements to Earth and simultaneously uncover a conspiracy of Black Bolt loyalists.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Maximus, in his dream in the first scene, is not too proud to beg his family for mercy.
- Batman Gambit: Gorgon and Karnak count on Maximus' troops still believing Karnak to have his powers and thus he walks up right towards them, hoping for them not to shoot him because they think he wants them to. It works.
- Became Their Own Antithesis: Medusa calls Black Bolt out on becoming just like his parents, when he wanted to become better than them.
- Black Dude Dies First: Gorgon is killed by the episode's end, the first of the heroes to fall. Though, we still do not know whether or not Triton is dead.
- Blatant Lies: Maximus sees right through Tibor's obvious lies and even calls the conspirators out on their sheer stupidity.
- Break Them by Talking: Karnak lies to Mordis about standing up for him in the past and promising a better future, only so he lets his guard down. He does the same to Loyolis later, though much shorter.
- Conflicting Loyalty: Bronaja is shaken in his support for Maximus when his father gets send to Earth to possibly die. This causes him to not tell Maximus the truth about his visions.
- Handicapped Badass: Even though his powers are still impaired, Karnak is still able to kick some ass.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Gorgon stays behind to stop Mordis from blowing up the building, at the cost of his own life.
- I Die Free: Mordis choose to die (and kill everyone around him) rather than go back to imprisonment.
- Internal Reveal: Declan learns who Maximus really is.
- Know When to Fold Them: After realizing that her healing powers are taking a toll on her body, Auran surrenders to Gorgon.
- Left the Background Music On: "Die Young" by Sylvan Esso is playing when Crystal and Dave are on the highest point of Oahu. Right after Crystal sends out a lightning storm, the scene cuts to Louise driving Black Bolt and Medusa. Louise instantly turns off the radio that is playing the song.
- Morality Chain: As opposed to before, Medusa now tries to get Black Bolt to not kill Maximus and give him a fair trial instead.
- New Era Speech: Maximus gives one to the former miners whom he sends as reinforcements to Earth.
- No Sympathy: Karnak wanted to put down Mordis immediately after his powers unwillingly manifested.
- Shout-Out: Dave makes an obvious Thor reference when he compares Crystal to a "god of thunder".
- Slashed Throat: How Maximus deals with Tibor.
- Taking You with Me: Mordis unleashes his power in such a way that kills himself and Gorgon.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Gorgon, as it turns out is at least partially responsible for Maximus being able to take out the royal family; A flashback shows Gorgon training Maximus to fight, telling him he has to be "smarter and more clever than anybody in Attilan" due to who he is. Maximus immediately takes it to heart, striking Gorgon from behind with a sneak attack.
- When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Gorgon Grabs Mordis and... starts stomping his hoof.
- You Have to Believe Me!: Audrey frantically tries to convince the cops that she is telling the truth about an alien dog, after Lockjaw has already teleported away.
