After Gorgon's death, the Royal Family finally returns to Attilan and a parley is set up with their treacherous relative Maximus. Meanwhile, Auran's loyalty is put to the test and Karnak refuses to accept the death of his cousin.
- Afraid of Needles: Turns out that this is Auran's personal fear.
- Ambiguous Situation: Auran helps Karnak in reviving Gorgon, but is seemingly not fully leaving Maximus just yet.
- Arbitrary Skepticism: Declan finds it a little incredulous that he's in a city on the moon. Then he remembers that he's looking at a fish man and a gigantic, teleporting dog, so maybe he should just accept what type of world he lives in.
- Broken Pedestal: Auran's loyalty towards Maximus is put to the test after she learns that the main reason behind his coup was going through another Terrigenesis.
- Came Back Wrong: Going by his now apparently feral nature, Gorgon is not the same man from before his death anymore. Black Bolt tried to warn Karnak about this beforehand.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Triton easily disposes of Maximus's guards and the man himself, despite the dirty tactics used by the latter.
- Cycle of Revenge: Medusa thinks it is best to reach a peaceful understanding to put an end to the violence on both sides.
- Dead Man Switch: Maximus has one as a fail-safe, which destroys Attilan's entire dome in case he dies.
- Death Is Cheap: Gorgon comes back after not even a full episode of being dead.
- Hope Spot: Double Subverted. Karnak tries to resurrect Gorgon using Auran's DNA... and it initially appears to do nothing. At the end of the episode, Gorgon appears to be revived, but he doesn't seem to be the same man he was beforehand, and behaves like a deranged Berzerker when he leaves the Terrigenesis chamber.
- He Who Fights Monsters: Medusa repeatedly warns her family not to step down on the enemy's level.
- Highly-Visible Ninja: It's hard to take Triton's supposed badass assassinations sequence seriously when he is doing it in a crowded place and in a way that it is impossible to overlook.
- I Did What I Had to Do: How Black Bolt justifies his secretiveness to Medusa. She doesn't accept his reasoning and argues that she should be his full equal as the queen, not just his translator.
- I Lied: Maximus doesn't uphold his end of the bargain to give up the throne in exchange for Dr. Declan.
- Motive Rant: Maximus explains to Auran how him trying to undergo a second Terrigenesis is not just a naked power grab, as it stems from a whole life of being looked down upon and he just wants to be accepted among Inhumankind.
- Neck Snap: How Karnak kills the captured Auran. She gets better, naturally.
- Not Quite Dead: Triton turns out to be very alive.
- Pet the Dog: While there is a good bit of Pragmatic Villainy mixed in to look good in the eyes of the public, Maximus truly seems to regret Gorgon's death to an extent.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Karnak refuses to consider the dangers of reviving Gorgon.
- Settle It Without Weapons: Triton drops the knives he used to kill Maximus's guards before attacking the man himself.
- This Is Unforgivable!: Karnak is very outspoken on being unwilling to forgive Maximus and wants to see him dead under any circumstances.
- Unscrupulous Hero: The royal family is sabotaging Attilan's power supply to undermine Maximus, despite endangering civilians too.
- Villainous Lament: Maximus recalls his first Terrigenesis and how it felt back then, being surrounded by people who loved him.
- Villainous Valor: Despite obviously being aware of how hopeless it is, Maximus still doesn't shy away from fighting Triton.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Medusa is not happy with Black Bolt keeping secrets from her.
