Big M. makes a wish on a wishing well to be able to find all of the magical staffs and then falls into the well. He wakes up and finds himself in the studio that produces Happy Heroes, meets the director Huang Weiming, and demands that he write him as having the staffs.
"Big Monster Sleepwalking Studio" contains the following tropes:
- All Just a Dream: The episode ends with Big M. waking up from the events of the episode, which were just a dream. He thinks it actually happened, though, and when he tries to explain it all to Little M., he and the keeper of the wishing well think he's gone crazy.
- Author Avatar: Series creator Huang Weiming is featured as a main character in this episode.
- Author Powers: Huang Weiming exerts his authority over the show's characters by having the scriptwriter punish Little M. for killing an unhatched bird by making a bunch of rocks fall on him, and then reward Happy S. for helping a senior citizen by making some coins fall on him.
- Humiliation Conga: At the beginning of the episode, Big M. goes through a short one where he gets his foot caught in a bear trap, hops in pain over the edge of a cliff, and then, once he's on the ground below the very short "cliff", he loses his coin and chases it into the wishing well.
- Hurt Foot Hop: Big M. does one after his foot gets caught in a bear trap. He hops directly over the edge of a cliff.
- Literal Cliffhanger: Big M. accidentally jumps off the edge of the cliff and clings to a stick on the side of it. It's shown that the cliff is so short that it barely even counts as a cliff, though.
- Out-of-Character Moment: Big M. breaks the fourth wall in earlier episodes, and Little M. and Huo Haha both do the same in his presence, just enough that you'd expect him to react with his usual Medium Awareness when meeting the Happy Heroes production crew. Instead, he's genuinely surprised to learn he's a cartoon.
- Rage Against the Author: Big M. holds Huang Weiming at gunpoint trying to persuade him into giving him the staffs.
- Real-World Episode: The premise of the episode has Big M. meeting the show's producers in their studio.
- Wishing Well: Big M. chases his coin into one. It's a big lake that is kept by someone who collects the coins throw into it - Big M. mistakes him for the god of the well.
