Giggles and the Tree Friends are in quite a giant predicament.

In this fairy tale with Nutty and Giggles, Nutty is tasked to sell a cow, but gets tricked by Lifty and Shifty to exchange her for magic beans. After eating the beans, a beanstalk grows out of Nutty overnight. Giggles climbs the beanstalk and finds a castle in the clouds along with a terrifying giant that eats Tree Friends for breakfast. Trapped in the castle, Giggles will have to escape or be the giant's next meal.
"Dunce Upon a Time" contains the following:
- Accidental Murder: Giggles starts to panic when Giant Lumpy climbs down the beanstalk to get her. So she uses her axe to cut the beanstalk down, unaware that she's also chopping Nutty's neck off.
- Action Survivor: Giggles manages to outwit Giant Lumpy and manages to survive this episode with little to no injuries.
- And I Must Scream: Nutty somehow survived having a giant beanstalk growing out of his body, trapped in what would most definitely be a constant state of agony without anyway of freeing himself. It isn't until Giggles axes him that he's put out of his misery.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Lumpy the Giant.
- Eye Scream: Nutty's eyes pop out of his head by two vines.
- Failure Hero: Giggles tries to save the imprisoned Tree Friends from Giant Lumpy. She fails to save any of them — and is even responsible for the death of one (Petunia).
- Fractured Fairy Tale: The gist of the episode. It's basically a grisly retelling of ''Jack and the Beanstalk''.
- I'm a Humanitarian: Lumpy may be a giant, but he's still a Tree Friend eating other Tree Friends.
- Mouse Hole: After Lumpy attempts to squash her, Giggles runs into a mouse hole.
- Mouse Trap: A variant. When Giggles (who isn't a mousenote ) runs into a Mouse Hole, Lumpy sets up a mouse trap with cheese to try to catch her.
- Ominous Floating Castle: The castle in the clouds.
- Rule of Three: Lumpy sticks a fork in the toaster three times before giving up.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Nutty, Lifty, Shifty, Lumpy, Petunia, Cuddles, Sniffles, Flaky, Mime, Toothy, and Handy die.
- Throw the Dog a Bone/Sole Survivor: Despite not being able to save anyone and getting nothing for her efforts, Giggles manages to get away from the giant and thus survive this episode.
- Too Dumb to Live:
- Cuddles and Toothy actively cheer Lumpy to pick them, not knowing what he's going to do to them.
- Flaky deciding to hide inside an active toaster. She doesn't get burned to a crisp, but the giant manages to kill her anyway!
- Cuddles hiding inside a pepper mill of all places. You can pretty much imagine how he dies.
- Uncertain Doom: At the end of the episode, Giggles feeds the cow the last jelly bean that Nutty gave her earlier. The last shot is of a vine growing out of the cow's udders. Now consider what ended up happening to Nutty when he ate the beans...
- Whole-Plot Reference: To Jack and the Beanstalk, with hints of Rapunzel and Rumpelstiltskin.
- Your Head Asplode: Handy's death.
