Directed by TJ Scott

Written by Ben Edlund

A serial killer is imitating a serial killer Detective Bullock took down years ago.

Tropes:

  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Bullock shoots the doctor in the leg as she's running away. From up a spiral flight of stairs.
  • It's Personal: The Goat Murders for Bullock and it shows: He doesn't at all resemble the lazy, cynical slacker we've come to know in previous episodes. And that's why figures it out, because he spent more than usual analysing it. You could argue that Dr. Marks is more his nemesis than Jim's.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Bullock pays for his former partner's hospice care and sends him magazines. Said partner also refers to him as a Knight in Shining Armor, which Gordon has some trouble believing.
  • Mad Doctor: The hypnotist. Holy crap. She thinks what she's doing is therapy for all of Gotham. "Negative reinforcement", she calls it.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Are the killers actually possessed by a demon of some kind, or are they just partners separated by time? Turns out it's actually a hypnotist who turns people into serial killers.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Or a sweet rookie. Bullock used to actually care.
  • Villainous Rescue: Cobblepot walks into the GCPD just in time to prevent Gordon and Bullock from being arrested for murder and accessory to murder, respectively.
